I was a bit of a film student when I was in high school. I created an animated short film in art class and I enjoyed helping out with other movie projects that my friends were working on. After graduation my film making aspirations were put on indefinite hold when I began pursuing music as my full time creative outlet. Fast forward to 2013 and to my own surprise I'm back at it again. A few weeks ago a friend of mine told me about a local annual horror film festival and prodded me into coming up with an idea for a short and amazingly I had one. However time was short and I was about as rusty as a film maker can be. In spite of all that and with a ton of help from friends and family we managed to slap together a film. I wouldn't say its ground breaking or even particularly professional but it is a testament to the idea that anything is possible. Of course now I can't wait to try again. Perhaps this time without a two weekend deadline and more experience.
I thought it would be cool to share the finished product with The Watch.
In any case I give you...The Position.

Cool that you managed to do something like this... maybe the ideas to "film" the Chrons as something theatre-like on a fest do have some chances

I liked it. I never did trust people who wear keys around their necks.
That Thomas Allen Cummins guy sure hoards the credits. He's probably the guy who made the credits I bet. You have to watch out for those guys.

Thanks guys. Actually my daughter (who plays Carla in the film) setup the end credits. I made the intro which only features my pretentiously long name once.
It was all great fun and the film's budget was literally $0. Everyone volunteered their time and the office location is the office where I work. We were lucky to already have some lighting and camera equipment so it worked out pretty well considering.
I didn't give myself more than a cameo role in the film but playing Mr. Lauer along with my daughter was fun.
The next film we are working on involves a man who awakes one morning to find the newspaper headline "WORLD TO END AT 9:00 AM" and checks his clock to see that its 5 minutes til 9.
This time we plan to spend a couple of bucks and take the time to make it as professional as a bunch of armatures are able. Seems every short film idea I have comes off like a Twilight Zone or Outer Limits story.
However that Thomas Allen Cummins guy will have his name plastered all over the credits once again.

Thanks guys.
I can now report that our film was selected for the Reel Terror Film festival here in Tampa on November 16th. I just got the schedule and The Position will be screened in two different theaters at two different times during the event. We're all really excited. The whole thing should be a ton of fun.
