Where are you buying The Last Dark from?

I usually order books from Amazon, but this feels special and I am going to look for an independent bookstore to patronize. There's one in my neighborhood (192 Books, in Chelsea, Manhattan), though they're rather small and may not carry it. Will check with them.

P.S.: I am a newbie poster; do advise if this is not the right sub-forum for this topic...

Waterstones.

I have completely given up buying books from Amazon unless there's a very large price difference, but I would have bought this one from Waterstones either way. There aren't really any independant bookstores near me.

I pro-ordered it from Chapters in Dublin (first time I ever pre-ordered a book). It's a big store but has an unbelievable secondhand sci-fi/fantasy section.

Barnes and Noble. I want to get it no later then this Tuesday, and this location has been good about getting books on time in the past.

Wonder if some of these places may not stock a lot of copies and sell out quickly. Will make folks like ussusimiel who preordered look wise 8)

Not sure Donaldson's a big enough deal for that to be much of an issue in anything but small independants. Big enough to be stocked, yes, but not sell out in the first few days.

Around here, they eventually get copies. The only sure way that you will get one is if you order ahead of time.

Originally, Amazon. But I've cancelled my order since I've received no shipping confirmation yet. Which I thought good enough reason to buy 'TLD' at the local independent bookstore.

Pre-ordered from Waterstones. No phone call yet! :D

Also getting kindle version as easier to hold than a great big book!

There is that, Iolanthe, but you will want a hardback first edition for SRD to sign at Elohimfest next summer, will you not?

Oh yes, that's why I pre-ordered the hard back. Thing is, will the plane cope with a heavy book like that? Will I have to pay extra on my luggage? :D

Was pre-ordered on Amazon as a birthday gift for me, so it should be waiting for me upon my return home from this business trip. :) (But now I have to avoid the forums for a week...) :(
