Google 'Kevins Watch'

When I tried to acess KW yesterday and today via the email links that get sent to me when someone posts in a thread I'm involved in, I got an http 404 error message come up and could get no further.

Today I 'googled' "Kevins Watch", and the first result (on the KW web site adress as far as I could tell) is a 'TAKEDOWN NOTICE', that reads as follows (in capitals as shown):-

DATE: 31 MARCH 2014. SUBJECT: NOTICE OF DECISION TO EFFECT SITE CLOSURE PERSUANT TO SECTION 6301 OF TITLE 41 UNITED STATES CODE

Can anyone tell me if i) the 404 problems I have/had [not sure if they're still an issue] are anything to do with this, and ii) wtf that is all about?

Ok - thats one little problem solved! Now I still have this 404 error thing to adress [still - at least I seem to be able to acess the site via an ordinary search] which is still preventing me from entry via my adress bar dropdown and emails.

Any ideas?

Hahaha, no, I'm not a lawyer. Although for a long time that was my intended profession, and while I ended up not studying it, I did plenty of reading on it in my own time before I changed my mind.

It permanently affected the way I write. ;)

The 404's should be sorted now. It's because we changed the forum paths to make the notice work on the current forum. They've been put back now.

As an aside, it never ceases to amaze me how much we get crawled.

Yesterday Google had picked up the takedown notice, today it's replaced with the normal results. Crazy.

I just assumed you'd stuck an index.html into the top level folder, so it took priority over index.php.

I don't know about 'clearing my cache Murrin' - if it's anything like clearing my bank account I'd better get my wife to do it, she seems to have a particular talent in this direction! ;)

I didn't do anything. :D I just told Vain what I wanted and he made it so. :D That was his solution.

He just means delete your temporary internet files. Usually an option under the "privacy" options in your browser. (Is it sorted now though?)

Sometimes even as simple as just refreshing while holding Ctrl. Or Shift, depending on browser.

Yes - all good Av. Yes - I did that but I don't think it worked [but it may have done without my realising it.] I think it was what you guys did at your end that sorted it.
