Uplifting Movies

I saw we had a thread for depressing movies, so how about one for uplifting movies, too?
Tonight I watched Seabiscuit for the first time, and thought it was wonderful, a movie with a lot of heart, and was very uplifting -- filled with love and hope, even in the face of hardship and tragedy...

A film I wasn't sure I'd like was "the Family Man". My family is in a holiday spirit and we're watching a lot of film together. Turns out it was similar to Its a wonderful life. A glimpse to show some jerk what his life would be like if he had made a different choice that changes him forever. I like Nicolas Cage in just about everything he's been in. A formula for a feel good movie.

See, I was a little conflicted in the "depressing" thread for the same reason I am in this one.
Pay it Forward -
kid dies... not that you couldn't see it coming, but still
Family Man -
in essence, two kids basically die... cease to exist, anyway.
It's hard for a movie to uplift withoud depressing, and vice versa. So for me, movies like Trainspotting, Chasing Amy, Donnie Darko, etc. are uplifting, even though... well.

, all I remember is everybody turning up (as per Field of Dreams)
Haven't seen Trainspotting, nor Chasing Amy, but saw Donnie Darko and it was neither depressing nor uplifting for me, more just thoughtful.

Believe it or not, Gattaca is the most uplifting film for me. Its theme of rising above one's personal limitations is beautiful.

havent seen Seabiscuit .. yet
but i have heard it is good!
Forrest Gump is soo uplifting!! brilliant
Galaxy Quest is uplifting .. lol .. and I loved Donny Darko LOL
I hate dramary depressing movies .. but .. some movies that have that inherently as part of them have touched me .. Philadelphia .. was one ..
oh my god what am I thinking .. I just saw 2 brilliantly uplifting movies .. LOVE ACTUALLY .. was awesome and funny .. thus uplifting ..
and THAT one with Jack Nicholson .. SOMETHINGS GOTTA GIVE .. i think it was called .. lol .. just great both of them
