Doc Neeson, lead singer of 70s rock band The Angels, died of Brain Cancer a couple of days ago.

If you're an Australian growing up in the 70s or 80s, The Angels would have had a large influence on your upbringing. They were a classic pub rock band, when you'd fill a pub with way too many people, the whole place was blurry with cigarette smoke and sticky with booze, and band played LOUD - drums, bass, guitar and vocals. Your ears were ringing after the show. Bands like Cold Chisel, Australian Crawl, Hoodoo Gurus, Rose Tattoo all played in that era.

I saw The Angels once after he had broken his leg, but his came on stage on crutches and smashed out an awesome show. There aren't many frontmen out there like him any more.

Thanks Doc for shaping my musical taste! RIP.

Yeah sad.... had a brief intro to him at the opening of the Hard Rock at Darling Harbour, Sydney; appeared to be a nice enough bloke and actually knew the name of the sound tech!

We covered a couple of these, and whilst I eventually got bored with Am I ever gonna see your face again (No way, Get F*cked, F*ck off!), the audiences never do. We did No secrets a few times and I still enjoy doing their cover of We gotta get out of this place.

I reckon Eric Burden would look at this and go Wow (or words to that effect)
