Same. But I can wait. Read all the books, so not worried about spoilers.Menolly wrote: ayeup. But I don't have Starz. I have another source for the shows, but I don't get them until after each season is shown. So, it will be awhile before I see season 4.

I don't mind spoilers, even if I haven't read or seen what is being discussed. But I don't know if SD reads this thread, so I'm going to try not to talk ahead of where he and I are at. But, should someone else post about the current season, then I feel it's on SD for staying in this thread, if he's here...

I had an old boss who would spoil everything and act like he was doing you a favor. Drove me crazy. One time we had an advance copy of the latest book in a series we were both reading - he got it first, so when it was my turn he kept asking me how far I'd gotten. Which was fine until he asked if I'd reached the scene where two of the main characters are brutally murdered. No, I had not. Anyway, nothing to do with Outlander, just a random story. GoT is going to be the real test, since I don't have HBO and almost all of my friends watch. I knew spoilers were inevitable last season, and it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would.

The series is a really, really well done adaptation. But, there is so much more in the books, which are quite well written.
Plus, read the L-rd John Grey series in the appropriate time frame. Stories not even touched upon in the show!

Finally watched season 3. Got to the last episode, and wondered how they would fit in the rest of the story not touched. Turns out they didn't, but it's not really missed the way they went forward.
It's been years since I read the books, so I may be misremembering that more stuff happened than depicted.

I've given this show a second chance, and I'm glad I did. While it's still a romance story dressed up as fantasy, I'm cool with it. Maybe it's because I'm at a point in my life where romance stories don't irritate me (new girlfriend, new life, more romantic myself). Reconnecting with a girl I knew 30 years ago, I'm feeling a bit like a time traveler myself. Anyway, she has read the books and it's fun watching it with someone who can play my role for once--the book reader who knows what's missing from the televised version.
I think every show should have boobs. Doesn't it just make a story better? Hell, it makes life better.

I agree with Z's final paragraph, but must note that Menolly and Dam-sel express commensurate appreciation for various unclothed views of the actor protraying Jamie.
For that matter, I am not displeased just watching Claire fully clothed.
The story? Oh, yes, we are all very much into that too.

Hmmm, not sure if I can...I mean, I like the books and all, (and have read them several times) but Book 5 got a bit bloody tedious to be honest, and while it picked up again after, right now it feels like things are just dragging along a bit in the series.SoulBiter wrote:So sell me on a $70 expense for 8 books!!!

And remember the L-rd John stories as well, which mostly come between Dragonfly in Amber and Voyager, I think.

So, my hold on season 4 from the library finally came in and has been viewed. I like how they handled Young Ian's choice to stay with the Mohawk. I just hope they continue with his story, as it does in the books.
There was a feature on the DVD set where the actor who plays Young Ian says it was his last day on set. So, his story may not be shown. I'll be sad if that's the case, though.

Me too. That would be a pretty significant change from the books, considering how heavily he's featured in some of the later ones. Not to mention how it would change Jamie's relationship with his sister.
More likely it was done that way to avoid giving away spoilers for people who haven't read the books. Puts more weight on the tension between Jamie and Roger and whatnot.
