Something has occurred to me.

One of the key premises of the Chronicles is that whenever people from the "real" world are translated to The Land, they return to the physical state they were in at the time of their translation before they are returned to the "real" world"

Now, perhaps I have missed something important, but I cannot recall an incident in the latter chapters of LFB in which Covenant's previously dead nerves in his extremities, which had been restored by hurtloam after his arrival in the Land and descent from Kevin's Watch under Lena's guidance, were restored to leprous deadness prior to his return to the "real" world after the death of Drool Rockworm.

Have others noticed something that I've missed?

It would still probably fall under the dream theory from Covenant though. He only ever really supposes that his physical state will return to what it was i.e. cuts, abrasions, beard, clothes, etc.

Might be an element of Donaldson not being able to make it watertight, but for the most part Covenant sees the conditions fulfilled.

I assume that anyone who has lost the use of nerves could dream about having active nerves if they once experienced it?

I don't think that you missed it. The two times his leprosy was healed and then he returned to the real world (LFB, TIW), AFAICT his leprosy was not restored.

However ... I don't think Covenant ever considered his healed leprosy to be "physical", at least not in the same sense. There is no overt sign. Or maybe he considered it something that can be changed back too easily, and so proving nothing. He needed a "definitive discontinuity", apparently one he couldn't argue away as imagination, to settle his dream/real question.
