Maybe I should be posting this somewhere else, but oh well.
My latest book, which is called
Seasons of the Fool, has been accepted into a new Amazon program called Kindle Scout. It'll be up for review for a month, until Nov. 26. If I get enough votes, Amazon will publish it via its Kindle Press imprint. I'd get a $1,500 advance and a 5-year contract. So I'm asking humbly for y'all's support. All you have to do is click through and nominate my book. If I win, you'll get a free copy once it's available for sale.
Not sure whether non-US folks can vote, so if someone would try it and report back, I'd love to know.

Thanks, you guys!

Sorry Ali. Only people in the US can nominate and receive free books! I tried.

Is there a way to track how many nominations you get?

Done, and hit up people on Facebook as well. I'm hoping one of my friends, a former professor with a soft spot for indie publishers, shares it. He has a lot of reach.

Ok, so, I could do it despite not being in the US...I had to create an Amazon account to do it, but it let me nominate it. I assume you shared it on G+ as well? I'll reshare it from there too.

Assuming the program does well, I expect that eventually Amazon will get their heads out of their butts and enable the thing in other countries. That's usually how it works -- we Americans end up being the guinea pigs for all their stuff.
Amazon hasn't shared with us whether there's a way for us to track votes. I mean, they obviously have a way, but they're not letting us look at it. And I don't think number of votes will be the final determining factor for winning, either -- the Zon has been fairly cagey about the criteria and I'm sure other stuff will go into the decision-making process.
I'm certain, too, that they've already figured out all the ways authors can game the system. ("No way! People would *do* that?"

) They said in the sign-up materials that they reserved the right to stop a book's campaign before the 30 days was up. I assumed they meant that for any book that looked like it would be a runaway bestseller -- but now I'm thinking they could also kick a book out if the author misbehaved in some way.

I would nominate you, but you didn't mention Kevin's Watch.
I'm kiddin'. I done did it. It might help you win if send a little bribery money Amazon's way. At least that is what I've heard helps them tip the balance a bit. That and not publishing with Hachette books.

Thanks, everybody!
Cag, for the record (and just in case the Zon is listening...), I have no connection whatsoever with Hachette.
