Hey all.

Okay, not a very Donaldsonesque greeting (do any of his characters greet with a "hey all"?) but well, it's my forum greeting in general.
I first read the Covenant books as each of them came out (which, unfortunately, dates me!). My mum lent each to me after having read them herself.
I'm a rereader, which means that once I've found an author I like, I will reread his/her work before even considering tackling a writer I've never read before. Mr Donaldson has been reread over and again, but only the Covenant material.
I moved to Spain over 27 years ago and only found the second trilogy here, translated to Spanish (and not that good of a translation) and getting his work in English was a task before Amazon.
However, recently, when recommending his work to a Spanish friend, tried to find the two trilogies for him in Spanish. Imagine my delight to find that there were four more books (book publication news does not abound in Spain on American Fantasy writing!). So I bought the first three (thanks Amazon!), the fourth had not come out yet.
While waiting for the fourth, I decided to purchase the first six and reread them. I'm nearly finished with "White Gold Wielder" and will be doing the first reread of the final three promptly.
So, that's my rediscovery of this wonderful, rich and dark and disturbing escape into the inner reality of a troubled man. Nice to find this forum.
peace,
revel.

Hail and welcome, revel!
There's lots of topics concerning Donaldson's works here, so don't be shy and dive in and post wherever you want to, depending on what you've read.
Most of the SRD forums are self-explanatory by their titles, but I would like to point out that discussions of Donaldson's "The Man Who" mysteries and of his short stories can be found in the forum
General SRD Discussion and Other Works.
As for the basically non-Donaldson parts of the Watch, here's some other areas you may be interested in:
Loresraat - science/technology
The Galley - cooking
Vespers - music appreciation
Doriendor Corishev - history
The Close - religion/philosophy
The Hall of Gifts - creative writing
Hile Troy's Think-Tank - politics/current events
And of course, there's the games, and try to stop by
The Chronicles Art Gallery--I think you'll be glad you did!
(With thanks to Menolly and Savor Dam for their help in providing me links for the forum titles.)

Welcome aboard Revel.

Did you mean you'd read other SRD but not
re-read them? Or not read them at all? (I'm a compulsive re-reader myself.

Welcome, revel.
I found your tale of difficulty obtaining books in Spain interesting.
Cord Hurn- what a great way to greet new Watchers... you're like "hey, here's a map."
For partly selfish reasons, I'm adding a link to u's u-seful thread:

Hail! May you revel in Stone and Sea!
After this dreadful pun, I am going to inform that here in the far reaches of arctic Gianthome, SRD's works crop up in the bookstores less often than winged kangaroos. So you have yet more luck on your side. All of mine originate from Amazon, delivered by carrier ravens or husky sleds.

Welcome to the Watch, revel!
Enjoy your reread and then diving into the Last Chronicles. Be careful of spoilers, obviously, especially in the Last Chrons forum, but also in the 1st & 2nd Chrons threads as Orlion is finally beginning to relax his former tyranny on LC spoilers

Hey all (again!)
Thanks for the warm welcomes.
@Avatar: I meant that I've never read anything by Donaldson besides the rereading of the Covenant stuff. I get too caught up in rereading other stuff myself and Steven King just publishes too many books each year! ha.
Again, thanks for the warm welcomes, hope to become a better part of the community when the day-job allows!
peace,
revel.

Sarge, the Watcher you are likely thinking of is Lady Revel. Formerly a fairly active member, we last heard from her in March 2013.
Like many of our MIA friends, we wait for her to pop up again.
Revel is someone else...right, Revel?

I am, indeed, not a lady at all, but rather what some consider a gentleman and others simply a blackguard. New to the forum.

Haha, love the sig. Reminds me of an Afrikaans saying, "Die skedel lag, al huil die gesig." (The skull grins, even if the face is crying.)
(Oh, by the way, you can set yourself a custom title now in your profile if you want. Y'know, the bit of text that goes under your user name.)

Yes, your signature is great, revel! It tells it like it is!
"En cien aƱos, todos calvos"; I like it better in Spanish!
