February's Post-age Meter

Okay, folks. We need 4,200 per month for the rest of the year. We can do it!
There's no emoticon with pom-poms, so just imagine one here.
I'm starting the month with 5,488.
Post your current total, and goal for the month or whatever.
Shiny prizes will be awarded, but only if we make the goal.

I imagine I will continue to be a constant but relatively low-post count contributor.
Current post count: 5660.

Me too, at: 3428.
I'm also bringing over the posts from the 'Whither...' thread so that we can decide on some prizes.
ussusimiel wrote:aliantha wrote:Like I said, we could do several prizes (so that Av and Sarge don't walk away with everything):
* Poster with most posts between now and 1 million
* Poster with most improved posting rate between now and 1 million
* Poster that puts us over the top (to be decided some way that's not too difficult for the admins)
Any others? And what shall the prizes be?
If we're going to punt for 1000000 posts we'd better kick this competition off!
How about prizes each month for the person who posts the most (only one per person. Previous winners excluded.) and the person who pushes us over 4000 (we're going to need at least that to reach the target). (An extra special prize if we manage to ever break 5000.)
We could also have a ranking system, so that as a person's post count grows they can put their new rank in their Title:
- > 100 posts - MsPam
> 200 posts - Savor Posts
> 500 posts - Postasorus
> 1000 posts - Ghurning
> 5000 posts - Power of Null
> 10,000 posts - Avatarizing the Poschtcountathon
u.
I was thinking of something like 10,000wgds for the overall winner, 2000wgds for the person who pushes us over the 1,000,000 mark, with the monthly prizes being 1000wgds each. I can cover a good chunk of that change and I'll need a bit of a dig out for the rest (unless I win it all myself!

).

Current: 44,452.
I have no goal. I'm also ineligible for the prizes given I'll be handing them out, and because I post too much anyway. This will in no way prevent me from posting more.
Have fun, and may the fastest poster win.

I will continue to post a small number of witty and erudite posts of the highest quality [applied with the precision of a surgeons lance to the 'festering boil' of debate on the Watch].

Let's call mine 16,115. I posted a couple of things yesterday, but not a lot.
I'm also going to pin this thread, because I haven't pinned anything in a while.
Tally ho!

Here is a story that may or may not be relevant.
There was once a story of a missionary who brought a woman from South America to rural small-town USA.
The woman from South America, Dayuma, conceived a longing for her native food - monkey meat.
The missionary gal brought her to a butcher's shop, and as the butcher showed the two women thin, beautiful steaks and the most expensive cuts of meat, one or both of them grew frustrated.
"Give us quantity, not quality!" the native-English-speaker of the two exclaimed!

Oooh, a numerical goal.
*deep breath*
Umm, it's not a cop-out if I wait a few more days to see how many people are playing this game before making a numerical goal, is it?

The goal is 100% optional. I just thought it'd be interesting to see - say I set mine at 100 posts, which is a little over 3 per day. That's totally attainable, and I'd say that I usually post more than that, except that my career total only averages out to 1.57 per day. Sure I've had absences and whatnot, which I don't see occurring in the near future (you're all stuck with me), but 1.57 still seems low.

35,560 posts at a rate of a little less than 9 a day. I doubt I'll be posting quite that often for the foreseeable future, but who knows. I don't spam Mallory's, and I rarely post nothing other than, "good post" though, so there's that.
I think I'm probably good for 50 a month though.....More if the mood strikes me to review something new in Vespers, TV, or Flicks.

C'mon Sorus.

You can manage a whole 5 a day, surely?
(Y'know, if everybody just goes and comments on half of the active threads for a given day, we can probably hit the target with ease.

)

Pretty sure that this type of encouragement affects the community of the Watch significantly. *shrug*
