I don't know. The acrobatics and so on from the sabre fight in Menace was truly spectacular. The punch that Yoda gave the fight in Clones was a fan's dream come true. I'm torn. (Notice I don't even mention any of the fights in the first trilogy.) Maybe the second set has something over the first eh?

Well, my favorite remains Darth vs. Luke in Empire. I liked the way their fight progressed, from the "civilized" duel in the carbon-freezing chamber to the hack-n-slash fest over the wind tunnel chasm. I also liked how Vader used his environment to brutalize and wear down Luke. At the end, Luke is a mess, while for Vader it's just another day at the office. Vader's so baaad, and so coool. 8)

I enjoyed watching the first trilogy saber fights. The Empire duel was particularly exciting. (Especially with the loss of a hand and the startling revelation that came with it.) The prequel fights are in my mind more visually stunning. They might have less significance but they are brilliant.

1. Empire (Luke vs. Vader)
2. Phantom (Qui-gon/Obi-wan vs. Maul)
3. Jedi (Luke vs. Vader)
4. Clones (Yoda vs. Dooku)
5. Hope (Obi-wan vs. Vader)

To each his own. Live and let die.

THunderball was better.

Yes, Thunderball was one of the best Bond--oops, sorry, gentlemen. Please continue...

I'd forgotten about the Yoda Dooku fight... Yes, I think that was the best now.

Yoda blew me away. I'm over it now, but when I first watched it, it was very cool. :-)

My local TV station was showing Phantom Menace couple of nights ago, so I tuned in (never bought the DVD). I must be mellowing with age or something, but it didn't seem all that bad, except Jar-Jar still irritated the heck out of me. Anyway, the Maul/Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon fight was still intense and exciting to my eyes. I think I might rank it right up there with Luke/Vader in Empire. BTW, I still liked that brief first encounter between Qui-Gon and Darth Maul on Tatooine, when they were taking off. I liked how there was no preamble, they just got it on. Qui-Gon was a cool customer; in his place I'd probably be frozen in terror if I suddenly saw this dark, hideous looking thing flying toward me out of nowhere.

Great imagery, MM. I wouldn't have gotten through the "negotiations" at the beginning of the film. The Dioxin would have wiped me out from the get go. :-)

This from the guy who thinks "Bruce Campbell vs. The Army Of Darkness" is one of the all time best movies. :screwy:

I wish I knew what you meant by that. I don't deny it, I just don't know what you mean.

I don't know how you can even compare Maul/Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon fight with the Luke/Vader fight... All fights in the first or second Trilogy (Depending on how you look at it) were pretty crap...

Please, Lord Revan, I'm only trying my best to find good things to say about the prequels...and that's not easy!

(Suddenly hears voiceover: "Do or do not. There is no try.")

Perhaps it is simply a matter of style over substance.
