I have finished the new novellas and really enjoyed them both. The Augur's Gambit was the better of the two, I think. Now my SRD hunger has kicked in again.
Anyone have any hint of what the Master Wordsmith may be working on now?
Hungry... so very hungry.

Hahaha, apparently, according to the newsletter, there is something, but no hints as far as I know or remember...

Stephen R Donaldson, in his latest e-mail blast, wrote:I've been writing a short novel I call "Meltman's SEVENTH DECIMATE."
He goes on to say that's only a working title. But I am fascinated by any character Donaldson would name "Meltman". The use of "decimate" as a noun, the fact of their being seven of them, and the uppercase letters are all mysteries to savor.
new work

Wayfriend,
Thanks for the info, although it increases the pain of not having any new SRD to read.
Meltman??? Strange. THE SEVENTH DECIMATE seems too big and ominous next to the name Meltman. Doesn't fit. On purpose?
Also, does this represent a trend for SRD? I.e., emphasis on shorter works? Is SRD old enough or in ill-heath enough to worry about not being able to complete a longer, multi-volume work? Of course, I love his shorter fiction almost as much as his longer works, so no down side for me. Just curious.

Meh, give me the big, heavy, multi-volume world building epics every day.

So I'm sure everyone has seen this already, since it was posted in February--been looking for a thread here about it and haven't seen one. ( My searching skills aren't the greatest.)
But, how about
this!
From the News section of Donaldson's website:
After two difficult, unproductive years, I've been able to get back to writing. The first result is a 23,000 word novella called THE KING'S EMISSARY. It is--as you might surmise--a sequel to THE KING'S JUSTICE. My agent is pleased with it, so he's looking for a publisher willing to take on something that short. Fingers crossed.
2/27/24
Sorry to hear about the difficult two years, but hey--new work!
Apologies if this has already been thoroughly discussed elsewhere--if so, please point me to that thread?

This is news to me, Helen Blood, so I am glad to hear about it (thank you)!!! I liked the novella "The King's Justice" quite a bit.

Me too--but I may have liked Augur's Gambit a little bit more. Not sure. Hmmm...maybe I should go reread them both so I can decide...
