Big Yourself UP!

This is a thread devised with the intention of us being able to shed all that culturally imposed modesty baggage we carry around - if briefly - and really blow our own trumpet. The rules aqre you can only say good things about yourself and they have to be [in your eyes at least] true. I think it's a good exercise, and one from which we can all give ourselves an often much needed boost. Oh, another rule [the last I promise] what one says in the 'Big UP' forum stays in the 'Big UP' forum! ;) . Go on - give your 'big-head imp' some funtime and shut your 'modesty angel' in the cuboard under the stairs.

Ok - here's mine. I've been around for around 60 years and I think I've done more [with more variety] in my life than just about anyone I've ever met. What I haven't done, well frankly ain't worth doing. I can read people like a book - and nine times out of ten I'm right; I often seem to know what people are thinking before they know it themselves. I am a professional diplomat; not paid as such, but self-taught by a life spent meeting and dealing with people of every social stata, of ten in quick and rapid sucession. I'm wise. Oh yes that definitely; in fact when it comes to both wisdom and common sense I have been endowed with just the perfect quantities of both - and there are but few people who will not bennefit from a short burst of each, especially in times of need [feel free as Watchers to avail yourselves of either, free of charge {on a first consultation basis} via my messages page - I think you'll find it worth the effort.

I'm ruggedly handsome in a sort of largeish homely way and have that sort of ironocal humer thing {Dan Brown describes it perfectly in his 'Code' novels as Langdon always giving a 'lopsided smile' [no wait - that makes him sound like a stroke victim] - more like Roger More with his raised eyebrow} going on. Women seem to find me if not irresistable then at least.....nice [is that damning myself with faint praise?]. I'm kind . I don't kill animals, I don't like the killing of animals [even bugs - unless they are vectors of the Big 5 diseases] and I don't like seeing people hurt or suffering. I'm funny - really funny; I can have a table full of people laughing all night [or could in my 'pubbing days'], and can pull humor out of almost all situations. Oh, and I'm smart. Not to great depth in any given area, but across the board generally. I mix with a broad range of types, and I can hold my own in most places. I'm not a lover of confrontation and eschew it where-ever possible, because life is better if we don't fight with eachother.

Well that's it! Wow it feels good to get that lot off my chest! Now what about you lot? C'mon - don't hang me out to dry here. Let's have it - say what you think! ;)

Honestly I think my modesty is pretty sincere. I do think I can read lit at a pretty decent level, and I think I have good attention to detail. I think I can be pretty funny. I also am a bit vain when it comes to my modesty, in that I don't like to sell myself as substantially better than I am. Also, while it's not an accomplishment for most people, I have a job right now, though not a particularly good one (I find it moderately enjoyable though), and I usually feel proud when I'm earning any money at all doing anything at all.

I think I'm pretty cool for having survived 9 years of Nigeria. Also for staying married for 27 years. Both of my kids turned out well. And my students love me and give me notes on a daily basis that declare me the "BEST TEACHER EVER!!!" I also am requested more and more to contribute musically in various situations, which is cool.

A list that requires no bigging up deer - achievements worthy of applause entirely of their own right! I know pride is not the done thing but if it were you could burst with it. :)
