I've out in at least 600 hours of game time, and expect to be playing for several years more. They have added landing on airless worlds, and soon you will be able to step outside of your cockpit, ship and walk around stations and other worlds.

I was a massive fan of the original Elite, perhaps the first ever true "open world" game, and the ancestor of the X series.

I would have played this one, but it's MMO only IIRC. There's no offline option.
