Could've sworn there was already a thread about this.
In short: It's a good film, and I enjoyed it.
Kate McKinnon and Chris Hemsworth's characters were the best parts.
Go see it!

I am sure it is likely a rehash of the original but then I saw Star Trek and The Force Awakens and liked them both, so this would probably be reasonaly enjoyable, as well. The graphics are going to be immesurably better compared to the original movie, to be certain.

Looks surprisingly promising from the previews.
Gotta be better than Ghostbusters 2, right?

I generally avoid remakes/reboots. Since the movie looks decidedly unfunny, silly, with awful designs, I think I'll avoid the movie. Plus, some of the reviews, and what some friends have said, makes me think the movie is a disaster.

I've been seeing nothing but praise, and I liked it. /shrug

You've
only seen praise, and I said
some reviews suggested it was a disaster. I think I'll stay with my opinion thanks

If that's true, then you have been ignoring my posts.
And that, my friend, t is a bannable offense.

I don't think I'm going to bother personally, but I'm not like rabid about it or anything.

I mean from people just talking about the film after seeing it, rather than reviews. Though reviews are largely positive too. Oh well.

Oddly, I didn't like the original that much and so was not especially excited about the reboot - but the trailer and reviews I have read are actually making me think I might give it a go. The cgi has been praised and the lady protagonists given the thumbs up, so yes - definitely a wait for DVD release for me, but I'm in.

Saw it yesterday. It was fantastic. Funny, fresh with lots of, but not too many, nods to the original.
My daughter saw it a second time she liked it so much.
Watched the original last night, it is still fantastic.

I saw it a couple of weeks ago and liked it a lot. It's a light, comic summer film. I agree with Murrin that Kate McKinnon and Chris Hemsworth give the best performances.
All of the stars of the original franchise get cameos (even Harold Ramis...). Ackroyd's is the best.
Batty borrowed DVDs of the original movies from a friend. We meant to watch them this weekend, but never quite got around to it...

Let's be honest, the original wasn't Shakespeare, but it's still one of my favorite movies. And, well, I enjoyed this as well

McKinnon stole the show, but all the main cast did well. It was also smarter than most summer blockbusters... I didn't walk out the theater shaking my head at the plot holes, which is rare these days.

I saw it, and have to admit I am now a hater. Most of the jokes just didn't land, and one of the few films that the editing was so bad it was worth commenting on.
The scene where the military and police show up and they "strike a pose," I said, "oh crap, here comes a stupid dance number." Then I was surprised that they didn't have it...until the end credits. I guess it must have been so bad that they cut it out of the main film, but seriously...don't give the lead in to it if you are going to cut it or move it to the end of the film.
The sad thing is that I really wanted to give it a chance, and it did nothing for me. The ghosts were unusually stupid, and so was the comedy, which is a pity because I've liked the leads in other things. The best part of the film for me was Dan Akroyd's cameo that for a second or two felt like a Ghostbuster's film again.
