My favorites from among the movies that won at least one of the 4 major Academy Awards in the 80's:
Chariots of Fire
On Golden Pond
Gandhi
Amadeus
Children of a Lesser God
Rain Man
Buckaroo Banzai didn't win anything, but I sure do love it! Fame is very cool!

I once considered using "TOM BIGBOOTY" as my username.

The Raiders and the Empire rules! But what about the lovely fantasy-movies of the 80ies? And I think especially of those with huge amount of 80ies-music like Ladyhawke and Labyrinth, but also movies like Legend, Krull, Willow and The Princess Bride...

LOL....not George. There was a movie called Lucas, about a geeky freshman and some locusts....
SW was a thing unto itself - doesn't count as '80's movies to me.
