Are we entering (or in) a period of anomie?

Post by peter »

I thought I knew what this word meant, but on checking the definition was totally adrift (I was thinking apathy/disinterest rather than a fragmentation of society due to a failure to adhere to usually accepted moral/ethical standards). Searching for specific examples I found them quite hard to pinpoint - but it occurred to me that to my father's generation our times would probably serve as a perfect example of the word. Would he have been correct?
Your politicians screwed you over and you are suprised by this?

....and the glory of the world becomes less than it was....
'Have we not served you well'
'Of course - you know you have.'
'Then let it end.'

Seriously though, it may be that every "age" feels as though t is going through that as the next age starts to develop from it.
