One Sentence Or Paragraph At A Time Story

We are writing a Sci Fi story together 1 sentence at a time or 1 paragraph at at time as it may be difficult to get your thoughts across in one sentence but either one is fine.
The title is: Flower of Doom: The Next Generation
I'll begin...
The night air was clear but tinged with the scent of an approaching winter storm.

Dusk had fallen into night suddenly as if the rush of the roiling winter wind had abruptly blown out the sun like the last dying gasp of a starving crier's lantern.

The leaves of nearby trees reluctantly abandoned their perch upon the skeletal branches and playfully fluttered downward, dancing in energetic circles as they descended to the shimmering snowbank below.

He stood silently, shuddering slightly as an innominate chill gradually worked its way past his thick leather coat and soaked into his slowly beating heart.

A good, stiff drink, he mused, would warm his soaked heart - but he had a job to do, and damn it, his heart could wait.

Whilst muttering curses, his breath creating plumes of mist in the crisp, gelid air, Mallory forced himself slowly into motion, angling downward and slightly away from the trees toward the roadway that he knew lay beneath the newly fallen snow.

Indeed he had waited a lifetime and now the fulfillment of his dreams, the reward for his patience, rose above the trees in the distance like a bleak, colorless titan- a ghostly avatar of his desires and his destiny manifest before him.

Step by cold, slippery step, forlorn and foreboded, he trudged methodically towards his bleak, colorless destiny, like a man who knows what will happen, and awaits only the right words to unlock the future.

Was a thought that suddenly entered his mind like the haunting notion of a half remembered past that tried to force its way through the impenetrable field of his determination to achieve the goal of reaching the ominous citadel that lay before him.

Mallory pressed on, struggling for hours through the knee deep snow until he reached the edge of the forest and broke out into the clearing that surrounded the castle.

Mallory was stunned and lurched to a halt, his heart racing, breathing labored.

Then he looked the other way, and the castle was there after all.

Mallory was confused to the point of exasperation but put the apparent discrepancy out of his mind and launched himself toward the castle's entrance.

As he got closer, Mallory realized the truth; thecastle was a hologram.

He continued to approach and as he drew nearer he saw that the hologram was directly in front of the actual castle which was only a few feet away.
