Chicken Farmer I Still Love You

We have just reconnected with our grandson Zeke. It has been years and tears. But the good news outweighs all of that. He is a musician. Plays piano quite well. Plays some guitar and writes his own music. He knows I write poems and song lyrics. He had asked if we could work on some stuff together. So I have started on some new stuff to that end. And looking at older stuff he might like to choose through. So here goes. I pray his parents allow this and we can produce some stuff. Any comments will be welcome as always. This thread is for the new stuff. I'll set up another for the derby stuff I want him to sift through.

Thank you for your indulgence.

ghost-like, dreams

Rag Doll Hymnal

far out!
8 million volts
b-movie creatures
mellow orange sun

venom in your chest,
let the poison out
straw man confession

acid communion wafer
sky-blue kaleidoscope,
drops rain, heavy & slow

hey Mr. Tangerine Man!
magic dust & sugar cubes
alchemists mixing elixirs
eclipsing the darkened sun

flower children lost
gone to weed, seed & thorn
autumn in the smoke
slow fade to black

I really like these Null ♥️ The words paint an interesting and vibrant fabric.

I especially like this last one Rag Doll Hymnal the imagery is colourful and yielding from stanza to stanza or whatever you poets call paragraphs? 🤷‍♀️

Id be interested in reading more fabric threads 🧵

Tragedy as Coincidence

the electric crackle of
overheated synapses
popping in my skull...

transistor static fades
don't let me disappear
don't let me disappear

beautiful but hopeless
apathy is melancholic
don't let me disappear

Under A Lilac-Bleeding Star

Chimera of distance

Distance for distance's sake

Frozen seas
Fearful winters of fog and ice
Snow-deep

Dawn darkened
by a gathering tempest
Frost-bit, Snow-blind
Black skies, grey mornings

the Artist's other soul

A bullet always
Finds its' runaway

the Anderson Council

Oh Lord, it's winter again
the Barrett delegation
greets the cowboys -
from a distance...
They're saddle sore
from muscle memory
[Extraluminary]
are they angels or stars?
delegation to the nation
from a distance...
he's right or he's left
he stomps and he scowls
on top of his wall
don't leave him now
have you got it yet?

IThe two from April are of a similar mood. I like them both very much. The latest is good as well. A bit more ambiguous.

Thank you.

Not sure where Tragedy comes from.
I don't recall writing it. Happens sometimes.
Lilac is based on a book by the same name.
Anderson is about Roger Waters.

Sarge!
I told you that I'd created a short sarge-eque sounding poem and you said to add it here.

Unfortunately, I lost it.
But since then, I thought of this one, and here it is:
Linna wrote:Do I LOOK
like I said,
"Tell me lies about time
in my filthy-dirty kitchen
with the fridge door on backwards."
Also, the images in the Lilac one are intriguing & beautiful.

Somebody's Making Money

There's a hole in the sky
Where the trees once were
Somebody's making money

There's a hole in my heart
Where your love once was
Somebody's making money

Bennie's Tune

Am I your man?
sooner or later
exactly like you
very thought of you,
they say it's Spring.
Except sometimes.

My old flame?
I believe in you,
softly as a morning.
If I wore a bell,
I'd fall in love too
easily. I'd feel so
pretty. I'd take romance.

What you mean to me.
Don't you know?
I'll be seeing you out
on the street where
we just first met.

Bandsaw Flywheel

Dolph was too quick for the tied-down
and rumble-buck. So he draped the drop
cloth and eluded his father's three good
electric eyes. Then Dolph waded in the
wider river, back behind his tree fort
aspirations. Then what? A quick jump
over the lazy brown dog? The new fox
could not shake the deep fog morning.
