"Within Moments"

TWW is Queen Estie's book. Her growth is the backbone of the tale;her intuitive powers mature . And, those powers are remarkable. The author takes her from a 16yr old to a 30 something.

I have a favorite or two "Within Moments" of her's. Her take down of Chancellor Postern is a great display of "intuition" in work. The Chancellor makes one little slip of the tongue and she brings questions from unseen angles catching him unawares in awkwardness and eventually defeated. The other,,is the whole scene with her drunk father. The author out does himself in that scene...ending in Estie blowing out the candle so her father doesn't see the tears cascading down her cheek There are more.

.Are there any female members of the Watch who would like to comment on Estie's Intuitive Abilities? Are they borderline Super Powers or maybe something Males just can't fathom? Does Donaldson do a good job with Estie's portrayal and "growth"?

Bifalt is decidedly cognizant of her abilities, respects them and benefits from them. Yet by the end of the book, the Celibate King is confounded by the evolution and pursuit of ones talents and abilities. Drama to come!

I think that, as is often the case, you offer insightful (if not always conventional) analysis of SRD's works. Absolutely agree that Estie is to be watched. An entirely new character in The War Within, she outshines several whom we know from Seventh Decimate and who get considerable development and attention in this second novel.

Bifalt has consistently had a too-focused mindset and overcoming this (and thus finally accepting and uniting with Estie) will be key to The Last Repository.

I so look forward to how SRD will bring all the various threads of this story to their fruition.
