Who had the great idea that Star Wars and Star Trek were ...
... such small and insignificant topics that they should both be together in 1 category? But Rowling, R.R.Martin, et al get their own one?
I think possibly someone that is not a great fan of Star Wars and Star Trek.

I have never even heard of Steven Erikson in all my 51 years on Earth.
A newbie so not going to start about something no one else gives a monkeys about. Tongue in cheek comment really.

Star Wars and Star Trek have been combined here for convenience based on the number of related posts as Null has pointed out.
However I am not necessarily against the idea of separate forums. I would be happy to moderate both or just one.
In the mean time, given the number of posts and new topics, I am not sure its justified.
Star Wars and Star Trek are connected in many ways through a number of similarities and distinctions that have cultivated a large shared fan base. Just as a DC/Marvel forum would tend to make sense.

Both DC/MARVEL and Star Trek/Star Wars and very similar but funnily enough the fans of each opposing franchise couldn't be more against each other.
True Star Trek fans hate Star Wars and vice versa and the same goes for DC/Marvel. More people like all 4 I would imagine though.
That is why I was surprised to see them together.
Didn't really understand your explanation but I accept it.
Thanks.

In my opinion most sci fi fans, like myself, like Star Wars and Star Trek pretty equally. As with DC/Marvel. Separate but similar.

I would be surprised to hear that you have never heard that Star Trek fans have been known to dislike each other and vice versa.
I point you towards this for the reasons they do. It is mainly due to the lack of science fact in S/W but it is known that George Lucas does not consider S/W as sci-fi but a space fantasy.

I think most sci-fi fans like both but when you consider the mega fans, I would think there is is much more of this going on. It has been in covered TV shows like The Big Bang Theory and I think it was talked about in Futurama.
It is more of a tongue in cheek statement really as I am with the vast majority and, like you, love both but it certainly is there.
I am not going to bring it up again but when there is a forum for someone both I and others have never even heard of, Steven Erikson, I was bemused to find probably the 2 most popular sci-fi/fantasy franchises that most non sci-fi/fantasy fans would know about in the same forum.
Thanks for the replies.
