Baby Balon!
I still almost can't believe it, but I'm a Papa!
It's been six months and feels like it's taking so long and also going by in the blink of an eye.
I've been lurking here since I was a kid, and I'll be here more now that things have settled. I've missed you all and can't wait to read her the first Chronicles (someday)
I thought you all would appreciate little Balon!
Any parenting advice greatly appreciated.

hahaha thanks Av! I'm not making the mistakes of my parents (I'm making my own! haha)Avatar wrote:It's too late for the only parenting advice I ever give... "Don't!"
So, meh I guess.
Sorta weird but congrats (I guess).
Also, see you joined the discord. Good. I have given you the appropriate role, despite you not following instructions.

I will check the discord, it wouldn't let me claim the account I made (said I already used the email?) I'll try again
I love spending time with her, this will be easy. She's already turning pages in her board books (we read a bunch of times each day) < 3wayfriend wrote:You made a baby! Well done!
Spend as much time with your child as you can. It won't be enough. And you won't know how much it matters until it's too late. But you will never regret it.
Thank you!Wosbald wrote:+JMJ+
Thanks for the sweet responses guys, I feel so blessed and love spending everyday with her. Can't wait to watch her grow (hopefully not TOO fast haha)

If you need to make a new account or whatever, just let me know here or in the #summonsing channel and I'll remove the old one and give the new one the relevant permissions.balon! wrote: hahaha thanks Av! I'm not making the mistakes of my parents (I'm making my own! haha)

Any account issues are on the discord side, not the Watch server, so maybe try do a password reset using that email address, if you already have it registered.
(Also: This Be The Verse )

Got in! the password reset did the trick. It keeps saying I don't have permissions to view the message history?Avatar wrote:Any account issues are on the discord side, not the Watch server, so maybe try do a password reset using that email address, if you already have it registered.
OMG hahah... grim, dude! Don't worry, we're doing our best! Only six months and already turning pages in the board books, she's gonna be a reader like her Papa!Avatar wrote:Also:This Be The Verse ) --A

My only advice is let your child guide their own pathway. As I look back I too often discover how much I wanted to point my children a certain direction. Of course we need to teach basics, respect, honesty, safety, etc but some things we need to be spectators and hope for the best.
Also don't beat yourself up for mistakes. Your going to make them. Parenting is an humbling impossible mission. All we can do is to minimize mistakes and apologize and love.
Lastly avoid to a scrutiny detail modeling behaviors that "surprise" you about your child. Argue with someone, yell at TV, eat snacks when stressed, whatever. Don't be surprised when they soak that up and attempt similar behavior
Gee I don't understand why they do "X" look back at your behaviors and behaviors of people significant in their life and bet you find something that they picked up from those behaviors.

Not every person is going to understand you and that's okay. They have a right to their opinion and you have every right to ignore it.
O DANG!!!! baby BALON!!!! thats amazing!! (and sort of unbelieveable!)
congrats to you and the mommy and welcome to the world to baby!!
big hugs bub!! <3
(this'll teach me to log in her more often.
i just really haven't had the heart to log into the watch
since Cag passed. one watcher passes on, another is born.
that seems a good thing and i'm sure Cag would love seeing
that pic of you and her, Balon.)

Congrats!
Parenting advice?
I give a few that doesn't get much mention, I think.
I loved the nightvision baby monitor we used. Saved me a lot of worry and was fun to see them roll around as they slept.
I forget where you're located. But you're in the USA, college costs are criminal. We invested in a "529 Plan". Not a lot since although we weren't poor we weren't middle class yet but it added up to paying almost two years of college for my daughter.
My son is looking to be an electrician so it will probably pay for a truck and gas money.

Enroll her in a self defense school. Some kind of traditional karate maybe. Not one of those silly jumping through hoops and breaking boards type of schools.
My daughter started when she was 6 and looked freaking adorable in her karate outfit.
I say that not to make your daughter tough (although sure, that's good too) but for confidence. I love looking at my daughter standing with a group of her peers. They're usually timid but she'd looking at everyone in the eyes like a Bloodguard. I really feel that 10 years of karate classes taught her how to stand and present herself well.
Music and theater too. It's awesome seeing your kid on stage singing or performing.
Sports? Fuck sports. Usually a waste of time and money, imo.
I could go on. It's fun. Try to carry her as much as you can. Looking back 20 years, those are my most common and favorite memories.
