Catwoman: Do they have the right idea?

I am a comics/superhero fan. I have enjoyed the concept my whole life. One of the things I have been enjoying lately is the return of the superhero film. Some that have been released in the past few years have been truly awesome. Now comes Catwoman. I've never liked Michelle Phifer so Catwoman's appearance in Batman Returns was a bit lackluster to me. (When I think of Catwoman the first image that enters my mind is that of Julie Newmar.) Then I hear of the Catwoman feature and I begin thinking of actresses that I think might fit my mental concept of the character. After some truly shocking reports of producers considering actresses that I wouldn't pick in a million years, they finally settle on Halle Berry. Not a bad choice in my opinion. Then I got a look at the costume. I just about lost it. My opinion of what they have come up with is that the look is ridiculous. Here is a link to the picture.

What is with the Rat hat and the torn pants? I was looking forward to this film but now I have to wonder.

I watched maybe 15 seconds of that TV show called something like
Black Scorpion. I hope
Catwoman is the tiniest bit better. But based on that outfit, I have my doubts.

What I have read of the script, and I do not look forward to this movie. Now, If they got Salma Hayak to play Catwoman, the I might not notice the plot. Heh.

Ahahahahahaha! That's ridiculous! If the costume is any indication of what it's going to be like, I'll have to avoid Catwoman like a plague of moles

Gahhh!

What sicko dreamed up that outfit?

Isn't Catwoman supposed to be able to fight? Now could someone please tell me how she can do that in those heels?!
(Or in that bra,
something is bound to fall out

)

I was shocked and then I laughed. Then I was shocked again then I laughed and then was shocked. I don't know. The costume designers must be smoking crack or taking too much Nyquil or something. I just can't understand it. I see BOMB written all over this film.

I'm afraid I have to agree with you, danlo. She gave up playing Storm for this?

Yes, yes she did. I have no idea who is replacing her; I don't really keep up with this stuff anymore.

I haven't heard about a replacement for Halle either. At this moment I can't imagine anyone that wouldn't call obvious attention to the substitution. Ala Robin Curtis filling in for Kirstie Alley as Lt. Saavik.

Saw the preview recently at the movies...sure didn't look very good.
And as I said to my sons (made them giggle madly):
It must be difficult to perform serious martial arts while only wearing a skin tight black leather bikini.

nah, the idea is lame, the story seems lame, and the costume sucks...

I have no interest in the Catwoman film itself. My worry is what affect a string of bad and unprofitable superhero movies will have on the Watchmen project. Could the whole "superhero" genre lose favor with the moviegoing public, so that Watchmen comes to be ignored--even if by some miracle it actually turns out to be a good movie?
Or--horror of horrors--will the Watchmen movie itself be the Ishtar of superhero cinema? There are many ways to make a mess of something as deep as Watchmen.

well...i wouldnt think that many people would pay too close attention to the success of catwoman..i mean, what with Spider Man 2 comin out, then Blade Trinity...blade always did well, and you KNOW whawt spider man did...look at Hellboy..it was a really good movie, but it only had modest success in the box office...compared to like xmen and spider man and such...but people still want to see comic movies....its good to have a variety, but not too many in one year, or one season, thas for sure...
the only thing is, id like to see some dc movies...besides batman and superman..and...."catwoman"...heheh...green lantern perhaps, or, Justice League...and maybe wonderwoman...although i dont really see the appeal of wonderwoman besides the TnA...

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was a DC offering, you know.

True but it was distributed by 20th Century Fox. Not Warner Bros who seem to have a real hatred for superhero movies.
