in that inverted pyramid. Anyway, in the form of The Search GAINTS have arrived in the Land, or what's left of it, and have agreed to participate in Thomas Covenant's wild quest. Taking TC, Linden, the Haruchai and that stange ol' Vain aboard Starfare's Gem they embark on a wild voyage in an attempt to locate the enigmatic Isle of the One Tree. Here Stephen R. Donaldson expands the world-here Thomas Covenant must travel strange lands and seas-on a doomed mission to create a new Staff of Law if any chance remains to save the Land.

All the "double reads" are now full-but note: the chapters that do not have an asterisk next to them may still be available--PM me about them if you want to do a read and aren't, yet, listed and I'll see what I can do...

I am very honored to have the privilege of opening the discussion on The One Tree, my favorite of the six. March, here we come...

Here's a question? Should I loosen up the schedule a little bit? It seems a little rigorous. If we do get a bunch more people who want to lead we prob need a couple of weeks buffer. What I was thinking is taking a two week break in the middle that way we could reset dates and give people more time to get really good leads together, if need be. That would run the last chapter up to Elohimfest. But we do need to shoot for the end at the end of June-that way The WG Wielder will be finished at the end of Oct-roughly the same time Runes appears...

My thinking is, and this is only if Runes is actually published in October (that date hasn't been set in stone yet, has it?), that we won't want to start Runes until maybe after Christmas. Give people enough time to read it thru before we start dissecting it, right? So, pushing back the dates in the One Tree, really shouldn't hurt that too much. I think a little breather would be good in the middle, loosen it up a little bit. :)

Did I make sense?? My mind is garbled this morning...

Also, it seems these days that a lot of American authors are having their works published in England and other places overseas in some cases MONTHS before they are here. If Runes is scheduled for sale in England in October, that does not mean we Americans will be able to have it then. :(

And Donaldson isn't always the most punctual of authors...I remember grinding my teeth in the mid-80s waiting for WGW to come out, months after its announced date. In the Foreword to Gilden-Fire he mentions the series "achieving parturition", but sometimes his fountain pen could use a Pitocin drip  .

And New Zealander's can get English books very quickly.

 Mwahahahahahahahaha!

But seriously, a little extra time might be nice. I overloaded my brain last time I dissected. 8O

Well I think you're a babe! And I'll bet Russ agrees. But alas, women don't like to be referred to in such ways. *sigh*

I think I am going to leave it this time around, as I don't really like The One Tree that much. Besides, I want dibs on Sun-Sage when we get to White Gold Wielder.

You've got it! But do me a favor dAN PM me with the chapter of the two you prefer. Be prepared to do both, but also be prepared to give one up if we get an overflow of interest 8) (the * after your chapter=your preference)
