Favoritism?

Is it me... Or is Geraden always the most loved? heh. I mean His Dad says,
My youngest son, prehaps my best son.
And Stead says:
"Ah, Geraden." Stead's smile seemed genuinely affectionate. "Of course I consider him a man. If you want my opinion, he's the best one of us all. Oh, he isn't half the farmer Tholden is. His isn't half the shepherd Wester is. He isn't half the swordsman is. And he sure doesn't know anything about women. But he's still the best."
then Artagel says:
"I always trusted him," he murmured as if he were alone, deaf and blind to her presence. "More than Nyle or any of the others. He was so clumsy and decent. And smarter than I am."
And others are always praising him... indicating that he is the best of them all... I mean... Don't get me wrong... I like the guy. He's a great character... but I think there's a little too much favoritism going round...

You might have a point, but thake a look at Quiss and the munchkins: there a whole lot of love going around Domne. If the main character was another one of the Domne's son, like Minick for example, they may they said, some what, the same things. If MN is an adult fairy tale then what's not to love about 'Prince Charming"?

LOL!

Yeah... Good point... but I dont think dads should have their favourites... I mean "Best son", I mean how would the other sons feel when hearing that?

And Danlo, your point actually sucked. :P ;)

Well, wasn't that what happened to Nyle? I mean, everyone is all "Oh, Geraden, whoo" and he doesn't get invited to Orison by King Joyse or anything...so yeah, I think favoritism is an issue...

I would agree that favoritism/sibling rivalry is a definate factor. It, at least in part, leads to Nyle being...Nyle. :(
