Otherwise known as Texas two-card, IMO, best version of poker. My friends and I have started to play fairly regularly.

Any other poker players?

Play almost every night online. I prefer Pokerstars which is the sight that 2003 WSOP winner Chris Moneymaker qualified on. He won a low dollar satellite and got his spot in the big tourney. The rest, as they say, is history.

Actually I'm playing in the New England Poker Classic at Foxwoods this Friday. Wish me luck.

Here's an interesting story for you dlb...
I got into hold'em through my father in law who is a fairly experienced and very good player. I'm not sure if you watch the WPT on Wednesday or Saturday nights on the Travel Channel but if you saw the one two weeks ago held at Foxwoods in CT you probably saw my father in law on TV! It was a $10,000 buy-in Tourney and he qualified in a $200 Sattelite. He finished 40th overall and lost to eventual winner Hoyt "Cowboy" Corkins. Hoyt sucked out on the river after my father in law had gone all in. They showed Mike (my father in law) jumping up from his seat with his hands on his head in absolute disbelief when that last card hit to give Corkins the win. They showed that same hand a few times and he was on TV for about 10 seconds. If we all have 15 seconds of fame, Mike still has about 5 seconds owed to him!

And lose my ass to you online? No thanks! My buddies and I are strictly low-stakes players. We played 2 nights last weekend and I counted myself fortunate that I finished $40 up.

Hey Danlo - about poker not being a sport, I think we all realize that - but if you look at the sub-title under this section, you'll see that poker is an accepted topic in this forum.

Well, I could certainly use the practice, since I'm so new to this game - I can't play tonight or tomorrow night, but will try to be online for a while Thursday evening. Take it easy on me!

So when are we going to organize the "KW Texas Hold'em Invitational Tournament"?

I've played on-line with dlb, Syl and Ur-vile (is that still his screen name?). I think we might have enough interest to organize something. Yes?

Hey, I'm all for it! There's no one that I'd rather get my ass kicked by at cards than you guys.

I didn't know that Loremaster (his current screen name) played.

Ah yes! Loremaster! That's it.

We played on a Saturday night (probably morning for him) in a small sit and go. He did pretty good for a novice. I think he made the final table! I bet he'd play in a heartbeat.

I can play late Sat. night (10 or 11-ish). My name on Pokerstars is DjakFrost, I believe.

Heh. Won $350 at a little tournament in Italy a couple weeks ago.

Works for me.

BTW nice work in Italy Syl!!!

Looks like I'll have some good competition.

Let me see if we can reserve a play money room or if we'll have to play in a low dollar sit and go. If that's the case I'd be happy to provide the funding for the tourney. I'll get back to y'all on this thread.

I'd say that's a very generous offer, but of course, we all know where that money will end up.
