Mordants Need was so long ago for me!

I loved the books, but left them in the boot (trunk) of a girl's car and hey presto ... so ... I have about 4 memories :
- things that were basically just mouths that came out of nowhere and ate stuff. Especially somewhere outside in the countryside.
- Mirrors, something called an Augury or something.
- Deep catacombs of a castle, some lost mirror being found there.
- A very nasty word being spoken, surprised me as that word hadn't been used in the Covenant stuff.
Am I close?

I haven't read them since they were published. I vaguely remember a girl from our world somehow going through a mirror to another world where she meets one nice guy and a bunch of nasty guys. And she's a magician or something in the other world. Am I even close??

They're on my bookshel waiting to be read. I'll read them next seeing that I cannot find a copy of the final in the Gap series yet.

Shoot Vain if finishing the Gap is what it takes 4 u 2 start MN, email me ur address and I'll mail u my copy of TDAGD!! Today!!!
A cryptic answer 2 those above: Landwaster remembers the books a little better than the duchess. I don't remember the word u're talking about LW. Both of u have the "gist" of the story, as it were. But as Covenant would say, "It's not that simple..."

Ahh ... well its that swearword that goes one step forward from the 'f'-word. I am sure I remember it being used in an expostulation from down in the depths of a castle.
Funny how those things stick in the memory!
The problem is, at a similar time I also read a trilogy by GG Kay (I think it was called the Summer Tree), so I may be a little crosswired.

What's wrong with the word "fornication"? It's not a dirty word or anything.
As Adept Havelock says, "Fornication is very hard to do alone. "

Well, hopefully I'll have time to get back to it someday, though it might take a group reread to do it.

Maybe when we get done with TCTC?

I am struggling to think of the f-word SRD uses in MN thats no the f-word .. very tricky!
I dont recall the f-word or anyword similar to it in MN .. but it was used prolifically in the Gap series .. could you be thinking of that .. and therelies the crosswire???
I mean it may have been in MN .. but I cant recall where .. and if it was .. I am not sure it would have fitted ..
would the people of MN use the same expletives as we do?? maybe?? ::shrug::
anyway .. if we do a group re-read sometime soon .. we'll know for sure eh?

Yeah I could be wrong, might have been some other book, haven't read MN since around '1991/92 or sometime like that.

Yes, there were little fur balls with teeth...as far as monster's go I thought that they were pretty cool. I always pictured them like that little pet that the girl Gelding had in the movie "The Dark Crystal" (aahh, come on..you know you've seen it!)
Mirrors are like doorways to other worlds/realms. An Augury is sort of a way of telling the future. A mirror is made focusing on a place or person then it's broken and each piece of glass shows a small piece of the future.
Yes, they found Haveloch's mirrors...all the mirrors they captured in the wars when Haveloch was sane. I just loved the chapters where they were wandering around in the deserted parts of the castle...so creepy!
Ohh, there were lots of nasty words but they were done so politely that they didn't seem that nasty at all. Fornicating was used. I particularly liked "Vagel's balls!" I believe rutting and tits were mentioned a time or two by either Havelock or Lebbick. Both were pretty good at comming up with some inventive insults.
Hope this helped!
(Oh - I am sooo there for a group read of MN!)

Its about time I got these books again, well, the hint I dropped recently to my wife should hopefully give her a glance at the future come Dec 25!

Hey, don't look @ me just cause I'm the Moderator!

I'm wiped out by helping 2 start Dissecting the Land and The Chronicles of Narnia Group Read at Ahira's Hangar...but I suppose if I can read 4 books at a time, I can read 5...I'll run it by Jay and Vain, if some1 doesn't do it 1st

hint, hint...

Hey, as far as I'm concerned there's no rush on the MN Group Read. Shoot we haven't even gotten through LFB...
But if you're looking for someone to volunteer...consider my name in the hat.
Wanting to discuss MN is what led me to become a member, but I got sucked into all the TC topics...Hellfire!

Yes, please lets finish TCTC and Narnia first!
I actually found my MN books -- skimmed through them last night. I had forgotten how good they are.
