Romeo, you've spoiled my day - I'm not going to be able to stop thinking about it and wanting to read more now.
Great opening chapter, btw. Mr. Donaldson's writing is even better than I'd remembered (and I wouldn't have thought that possible, heh).

You have expressed my feelings exactly, FF. It has just fed the fire of my desire!

Holy Cow! Danlo you poor miserable outcast (unclean that is).
The first chapter of the prologue has served to kick my tail feathers.
Tally ho!

Wow indeed. Some thoughts.
If Joan is a symbol for the health of the Land as she was in the 2nd Chronicles, Thomas is in for a fight. At least the White Gold had given her a measure of comfort, eh?
Q: Roger is clearly corrupted by the Despiser, no?
Q: The scene depicting what occurred between The Sheriff and Joan MUST be seen!!

Try it anyhow, Danlo -- it's a .pdf. Even my ultra-security-conscious firm lets us download .pdfs....
Wow.
It'll be hard to wait now 'til October for the rest...but it must...suffice.

I'm with ali - it's gonna be tougher than ever to wait till October now!!!!
Maybe he'll toss us a couple more tidbits?????
How totally cool - like murrin said - his writing style is so great!!!
(especially after I just finished WGW on Saturday - it was great to have the end of the 2nd chrons so fresh!!)
5 1/2 months to go!!!!!

There is, luckily other good Lit. and movies this summer to fill some of the void. I suggest Dark Tower Books myself.

That was so cool to read!
Never thought I'd say this, but I can't wait for summer to end!

It's been two decades since we last danced, Linden...welcome back to my life!
I just hope SRD feels OK about the release of this excerpt. He said in the Gradual Interview that the decision was in the hands of the publishers, not his.
I'm looking forward to the WGW Dissection over the summer. What a great way to prepare for Runes! I hope the WGW chapter analyses attract a good amount of interest. The Second Chronicles discussions should end on a high note!

WOW! Damn, now I really want to read runes... A VERY interesting beggining...
I have always thought that Roger would be in the third chrons... but I didn't expect that...
Like the rest of you have said, it's going to be a harder wait for Runes now...
The worst thing is that we are going to have to wait 9 odd years for the completion of this story...

You never read my chapter 5 synopsis in New That Sets SRD Fandom on Fire? They are dissecting Runes chapter One in Dissecting the Land...btw.

no, I have not read that, Danlo. Don't take that as an insult, though. When I first saw that thread I steered clear because I was only at the beggining of the second chrons (infact when it was posted I was still reading TIW). But thanks for reminding me... I'll go read it now...
Edit: Cool...
