Hail All Watch Members... Post your theories on what you think is going to happen... I mean we've been given quite a few hints... what do you think is going to happen? Do you think Thomas is Foul? Or rather Foul has corrupted Thomas? Or Thomas is going to come back to life? Come on people? what?

I think that Joan is the indicator. Recall that in the 2nd chronicles, she was a symbol for the ill of the land. She, like the land, require bloodletting to sustain her.

SPOILERS:

This time she is apperently damaging herself repeatedly by whacking herself to bloddiness...bloddletting herself, sores etc. My guess is the land is in upheaval, perhaps in the pysical sense.

The Law of Death is broken, but covenant need the white gold to be freed fromn the arch.

Linden will travel to Andelain to find out how to free him (perhaps Elana, or Morham or Bannor, or Saltheart will come too?)

Roger (and possible Joan) will be posessed by Ravers...imagine a RAVER with the White gold that Joan has!! EEEEEK!

This is my dream for Book #1.

Lord Foul is omniscient - everything that he did in the 1st and 2nd Chronicles was done in order to prepare the way for Final Chronicles.

Eek indeed!

I hadn't considered the fact that Joan would have a wedding ring!

Man, you're way behind! Check out the prologue chapter 1 for more info on this.

Do you really think she would keep hers after divorcing him though? Especially keep wearing it? Unless it said somewhere that she kept it and I forgot that part...

I refuse to speculate what the greatest author in history has in store for us. I feel it would cheapen my reading experience overall if even one theory given here turns out to be accurate.

I'm running away from this thread as fast as my connection will let me, and I'm never looking back.

I always thought Joan probably kept it, though she wouldn't necessarily wear it. I know a lot of divorced/separated couples who keep their rings. It's still a symbol of the marriage they once shared.

For some, it's the faint hope of a reconciliation down the line, others it's sentimental attachment.

In one of the spoiler chapters posted by Mouseglove...
Spoiler
...Joan is in the Land being tended by those acid creatures from the swamp, complete with white gold wedding ring shooting out little bolts of wild magic. :)

Read the prologue and you will discover that Joan has Thomas's ring. (Linden gives it to her)

Spoiler
No no no. When says that Linden returned "her" ring to her, she meant "Joan's". Linden has her own (that Covenant gave to her) on a chain around her neck.

There will be three, possibly 4 sources of the white gold in the new books that are easily inventoried:

1) Joan's wedding ring
2) Covenant's ring (linden has it around her neck)
3) Covenant himself in the arch of time.
4) Bereks ring... who has that?

It were merely said that Berek knew of white gold, how? We don't know...

SRD says in the Gradual Interview that he never knew Berek had a white gold ring.

You people are wrecking my head! :x

heh, you don't know the story, let alone make theories about it :P

lols, Berek never ever had a White Gold Ring. He knew about it because he was a Seer and Prophet.

Joan, bless her husband abandoning heart, has her own White Gold ring. It was her idea to get White Gold for them both (It said so in Lord Fouls Bane) Joan also had a White Gold ring on a necklace around her neck in the Second Chronicles. Linden has Thomas' ring about her neck.

Get the facts right people! And read the Prologue! :x

*Suddenly has a revelation*

Joan represented the Land in the second chrons, but she was also a link to Lord Foul, who had done something to her.
Spoiler
In the Prologue we hear that Joan calms down a little when she has her white gold wedding ring - now I'm wondering, could it be that it is somehow through this contact and Joan's link to the Land, that Foul will this time restore himself? He may not be able to use the wild magic as long as the ring is outside, but he may be somehow drawing power from it through Joan...
