I have been renting the ST: Voyager DVDs through Netflix and re-watching them lately. Any Voyager fans out there?

Personally I didn't like the first couple of seasons, I thought the writing overall was stagnant and too repetitive (Captain, we've encountered YET ANOTHER strange space-time anomaly).

Comments?

Voyager was OK. 7 of 9 should have been called 6 of 9 and just had done with it.

I liked the look of the show, and some of the stories, mostly though I give it a "c".

Without Neelix? a "b".

Neelix is the Star Trek equivalent of Jar Jar Binks. Kes was hot but I was glad when she left the show.

Star Trek Voyager ran hot and cold through most of its life. I agree that the first few seasons suffered from a lack of imagination on the part of the creative team. Overall I followed the show from beginning to end with at least a few fond memories for my time and trouble. I had had enough of the Kazon after their first appearance. I think the show relied too much on the Borg element and Q in the attempt to make things interesting. Neelix was a distraction. I think once I got over what Jeri Ryan looked like in her rather unique uniform, I was fairly impressed with how well she managed the role. Voyager stumbled more than it probably should have and I draw a direct connection from Voyager's seeming lack of vision to its successor. Enterprise seems to flounder and fumble with its own identity in a similar fashion but its greatest crime is its unrealized potential. In my opinion Enterprise should have been exploring the complex and fascinating back-story to Star Trek but alas it was not to be. Where is Gene Roddenberry when you need him?

You are right on target! I would extend your remarks about a lack of creativity to the Star Trek movies Insurrection and Nemesis.

IMO, the best moments of the show were due to 7. There's the episode where the Doctor found out some of his memories had been erased. Turns out Janeway did it. Kim and some woman that the Doctor hardly knew (we didn't know her at all) had both been critically injured, and he only had time to save one. He chose Kim, solely because he had a personal friendship with him. He was going insane because of the randomness of his decision. No justice, no reason. Janeway erased his memory of the incident and the woman so that he would stay sane. Obviously, the Doctor found out what happened, and regained the memories. And started going crazy again. And Janeway erased them again. Finally, 7 went to Janeway and gave her a piece of her mind. Excellent scene!

Then there's the one where a Borg maturation chamber merged with the Doctor's 29th C holo-emitter, and the resulting Borg was REALLY advanced. 7 was the obvious choice to teach the Borg about everything, and she became close to it. He ended up being mortally wounded when he fought off the Borg when they tried to take him. He could have repaired himself, and 7 was begging him to. But he didn't, because he knew the Borg would always come after Voyager, as long as he was alive. When 7 begged him, "Please. You are hurting me." I tell ya, Jeri was GREAT!

The episode where that Q wanted to commit suicide was very cool. And the one where Kes was injured on some planet, and Janeway had to go through the religious rituals of the planet in order to find a cure. And Species 8... whatever... really kicked butt!!

I heard on the news that the Republicans were going to lose a place in the senate due to Jeri Ryans divorce going public... Is this true?

I just watched my first "Enterprise" episode last wednesday. I don't see an "Enterprise" thread for me to comment on, though....

Yes, you speak true. Jack Ryan (the latest example of a hypocrite on the right...family values indeed) however, has dropped out given the seedy nature of the contents in the testimony. No matter, in IL he (or just about anyone) has littel in the way of a snowball's chance.

DS9 was the best of the bunch...that is true (after next Gen, of course).

DS9 was indeed the most engaging of the modern age ST shows.

brunette guard chick....hmmmmm. ....having trouble figuring out who she was. Dax was smokin' and so was Kyra. And the Bajoran chick that ended up married to Rom (yeah! Like that would ever happen!) was on fire.

Recently watched the 3rd season on DVD - about halfway through the season the Borg were encountered, and a subtle improvement in the quality of the writing occurs. Almost every episode is significantly better.
