Haircuts

I was told that b/c I go to a "Salon" to have my hair cut, that I'm a bit high maintaince as a guy. I'm a big offended by that remark. My girlfriend appreciates the fact that I make myself presentable for her. I work out, eat healthy, exercise, not just for a decent body but to also make myself attractive to the girl I love. If I have to spend $20 at a salon for a single haircut, so be it, at least the girl likes it.

Do you go to a traditional Barber, stylist, salon... is it effeminate to go there as a guy. Your thoughts.

About once every two or three months I go to a local place called "Shear Professionals". It's not a traditional barber shop, but it's not some high-class salon either. I like the place, as it's all women who work there. Something nice to stare at. They consider themselves "hair stylists", though all they do for me is lop my muttonchops off with a bowie knife and charge me 12 bucks for it. Capitalists.

My mom takes pictures for the lady who cuts my hair, so they just trade which works very well for me. Free haircuts! Woohoo!

Heh, when I realized that I was thinning on top, I decided to just buy a set of clippers and not pretend I had hair anymore. Besides, with 4 boys, I'm saving like $100 a month doing theres and mine. (I actually can cut hair, but it's not a talent I wish to improve.)

I pay just under US$25 to get my haircut every six weeks in a fancy salon. I go to this salon to get my hair done by a particular "stylist", a guy who knows how to cut afro-style hair without having to shave it all off (too cold here for that look).

And despite what your thinking, it's not that simple to cut curly hair. Mine always used to look fine for a couple of days, and after that, because certain parts grow much faster than others, I was left with a ver odd shaped natural mohawk and wings at the sides.

So you have afro-style curly hair in the shape of a mohawk with wings at the side?

Pretty much. It stick out on top, and there are little puffy bits on the sides, and in between the top and the sides it sits down and you can't make it stand up, and it gets all messy on the crown.

Hence I go to a stylist at a salon. :D

I go to a barber

or if I feel like it I Shave it with a razor.

I wouldn't be caught spending any more than £7 or £8 for a haircut.

4 inches long on the top (1.5" in bulk) combed straight back (as straight as my hair will allow, anyway), tapered off at the crown, number one (next to bald) on the sides and back, high fade to the top, tapered at the ears and neck.
And if that's not clear enough...

A thread about work, before i went back to uni i did most of my apprenticeship as a mens barber. I still work there in my holidays from uni. We usually charge $10 NZ which is quite cheap for the area we're in. As for my own haircut, at the moment its getting a bit long but usually i like to keep it quite short on the sides and top.

I go to whoever is reasonable near where I'm living at the time. I've never been to a proper salon, it just doesn't appeal. To date, I've always gone out with the kind of girl who would mock mercilessly if I spent more than about £7-£8 on a haircut

Fair play to you mate. :) I eat healthy, ot at least try to... :P don't exercise that often though... because I'm busy... heh. Though I do play football and squash a lot. But I don't make that big a fuss about my hair... :P I get a simple hair cut every four months or so... Though I dyed the tips purple at one point! 8O

Barber... Salon... Hair Stylist...
It does not matter to me since I get mine cut but maybe once a year.
(Yes, my hair is considered "long". Shoulder length to be exact.)
As far as cutting it, the last cut was Easter 2003 at Floyd's Barber Shop
in "Mayberry", North Carolina. (Of the Andy Griffith Show fame.)
(The actual name of the town is Mount Airy.)
And yes, Floyd DID cut it.

Short back and sides, with no allowance for any length discrepancy between hairs.

Once every 3-4 months for the haircut. I need to go soon as I am over due. I go to the gym 3 times a week too!
