Is this a dream ?..if it is don't wake me...

Greetings,

My absolute first post here, and having just finished the 2nd Chronicles for the 40th + time on Friday night, I decided I'd finally check online for information on SRD's books, collectables and the like. Mind you, I haven't really checked out SRD's website, not kept up to date with current writers - other than R.A. Salvatorre.

So, I was searching on Amazon, typed in TCTC and the first listing has a book called "The Runes of The Earth". I briefly scan the page, and then see someone has written a small intro, read down through it yeah, yeah thats all familiar, and then...

The pulse quickened, the blood pressure was going toward 200, and I thought - no need to panic, probably just a typo. Checked Google out, and BAM..it happened..

Its as if someone called me back through time and I landed on Kevin's Watch once again. Looking down I see the whole breadth of The Land before me, and who is there to greet me but this mythical man, one who has called me to this place so many time before, and yet on every visit, my memory becomes clearer and my desire to stay beckons to my consiousness.

How the land has changed over the last 20 years but it still is fresh and new to me. To be called back to that wonderful place, where imagination becomes reality, where adventures become epic, and where this 40 year old feels like a little child, aye...that is what I dream of when I open the Chronicles. True story follows:

***
There was something funny in the air today, prior to my checking Amazon's website, my Cocker Spaniel hopped up on the bed, and knocked Lord Foul's Bane off, and onto the floor, it opened right to when Thomas arrives on the Watch. I picked it up, and briefly read those words...

"Kevin's Watch!, are you in need?".
***

So, today, I check SRB's website with as much haste as I've had in many years, and see the words that have haunted me like a shadow against the sun...ITS TRUE and to aid me on this journey, I find a forum, with members who have visited this place and adore it as I do !

Now, as a guy, we're supposed to be all macho, and hide our emotions behind a stone facade, but to heck with that, I cried with joy, and absolute pleasure because THE series that has brought me to the land so many times before, has once again beckoned to me, and this time it will present new tales to dazzle and entice.

I literally walked very quietly outside (we're way out in the country) so as not to wake my 85 year old grandfather, and let out a scream of absolute joy. then the tears came, as the magnitude hit me...

So, as a final thought, I just wanted to say thank you to Stephen R. Donaldson for sending forth the call to come back to The Land, and for bringing this world to life once again. I await your words with passion, and deep gratitude.

I'd also like to say hello to everyone here, and am glad to have a place to visit with people whom I hope to call friend.

Is this a dream ?..if it is don't wake me...

With kind regards,

R.S.

Welcome Silverleaf! Some of us even got to speak with SRD last weekend in New Mexico - it was awesome. While he did not give us any spoilers, he made it seem that we are really going to love his next series of books. They're coming out in October.

Be sure to look at all the posts regarding the Elohimfest and Dinner with SRD... There are also some pictures to look at in the album.

Be welcome and true!

I felt the same way when I first found out about Runes and found Kevinswatch. I was shaking all over, had to ring my aunty and tell her the news, over and over.... :D
Welcome Siverleaf.

The Land.... The Land..... hmmm, it sounds familiar....

Hey Amok, isn't that the restaurant we ate at??? danlo? Help me out here, folks.

:D :D Silverleaf, it's wonderful to have one of such enthusiasm here with us! Many of us felt the same when we discovered this glorious place. Have fun, kick back, don't start any Rituals of Desecration, and don't talk to.... Oh heck, you'll figure that part out yourself.

Hail Silverleaf! The intensity of your post made my screen blur just a little...

Regarding "if this is a dream," Cail said,
But is not all life a manner of dreaming? Have you not said that the Land itself is a dream? Dream or delusion, the music I have heard has altered me. But I have not learned the meaning of this change. Ur-Lord, I wish to prove what I have dreamed to its heart. Permit me.
No one who hasn't heard the song can understand...and I don't think SRD only meant sirens in the sea.

I'm sure you're right, Durris. I'm sure SRD never meant only one thing! :)

First off,

Many thanks for all of the warm greetings and hearty welcomes to the Watch. It does my heart good to know that the Watch is a place of friendship and companionship - but then again - we are speaking of one of the greatest series of books written in the last hundred years, so it goes without saying that passion leads to deep feelings.

My thanks to everyone, and I look forward to spending time on the Watch with you.

By the way, I have a website for my rocketry hobby, and there you can find a logo that I did about 15 years ago. So Caer Sylvanus was very close. 8)
