Welcome, watchers!

I think the title explains what this is about, so I'll get straight into details.

The tournament will be split into two stages: the group stage, and the knockout stage. The group stage will be decided with a points system. The two highest scoring players in a group will go through to the knockout stage. The point system as follows will be a simple one: win = 3 points, draw/stalemate = 1 point. In the even that two players' points are tied (in/for qualifying positions) there will be a match between those two players to decide who goes higher. Depending on numbers, third places in the groups may be given a chance to go through, this will be settled by play-offs.

The knockout stage is much as it sounds. Winner goes through, loser goes out. In the event of a draw there will be a rematch. Depending on the numbers, there may be no way out of having three people left at the final, in this case one beaten semi finalist will come back and have a second chance.

Preferably the games will be played at MSN gaming zone (zone.msn.com/en/root/default.htm), www.itsyourturn.com, or yahoo (games.yahoo.com/). Unfortunately not everyone can seem to be able to acess these, so as a backup, games can be played at jippii.com (jippii.com) aswell. If anyone knows somewhere else the games can be played, please let me know.

Games will be announced every week. From the announcement date players will have one week to sort out a time and play the game with their oponent and report the result back to me via PM (I'm trusting you all to be honest, here ) (this inclueds rematches in the knockout stage). Everyone still in the tournament will be playing a game every week (except when playoffs are being done).

Me! And Hierachy...

So whoever signed up first will go in group one... second in 2... third in 3... forth in 4...fifth in group 1 again... sixth in group 2... and so on... it would be a great way to do the groups. heh, I'm not in Hierachy group, that pleases me. He's my bet to win the championship. First sixteen! And I hope dAN signs up soon... I don't want to be in his group either...

Though I am only barely qualified to compete in this tournament, I formally submit myself to repeated humiliation...er I mean I would like to enter the fray so to speak.

YES! I drew with Hierachy! And no-ones done that before have they? I have not yet been beaten by him... and I played much better against him than I did with dAN the other day... where I lost twice. YES! A draw with an excellent player... Things look good for Darth here!

Man, do I suck at chess. I've never even come close to beating my Palm pilot on its easiest setting. Count me in, though, it's all good character building stuff etc.

I'm in. At Tom's request, I ask to be in a different bracket than he is.

You forgot to mention that all you had a king and a bishop, while I had a king, a castle, a bishop, a queen, and two pawns (one of which was one turn from becoming another queen). I was trying to kill his bishop and in my haste didn't see that it caused a stalemate.

I can beat 8 year olds So I qualify as a first round knockout candidate. Put me down, but I shall issue a formal protest if I draw Hierarchy or any of his alter egos as my first match
