The ARC

DO NOT REVEAL ANYTHING FROM THE ARC ON THE WATCH!!!

Sorry, but this is getting crazy...too many people seem to have these things and I, for one, do not want the final, complete and AUTHORIZED story ruined for me by someone who has read the ARC.

The sole purpose of an ARC is for bookstores and reviewers to market and review a coming book. Selling ARCs on Ebay is illegal or at least should be.

So, all you who DO have the ARC of Runes. PLEASE...DO NOT REVEAL STORY, PLOT, CHARACTER, or EVENT SPOILERS on the WATCH...ANYWHERE!!!

If I'm coming off like a b*tch, I apologize. I just don't what to have to pick my way thru the Watch because I'm worried about spoilers...

There have been at least two cases that I am aware of so far...one was minor, and the mod stepped in and blacked out the other and put up a big warning, so I do not know if it is a big one or a little one...

I, too, prefer to wait until October and the release of the book. If others want to discuss this thing in PM messages, go for it -- but please wait for public discussion until the book is released and everyone has access to the story. :)

I've been given little bits of info off three members. 8) :D

Like what happens at the end is:
Spoiler
Not really. I'm just messing with ya.

:P

heh, I've been given little bits off info... Not enough to satisfy my lust for knowledge. :-x

I agree with all your post except this part... Feel free to send pms to those who want the spoilers... But Furls probably meant that anyways. :D |G

I meant keep all spoilers off the main board. If people want to know what happens without reading the book, then they can PM the owners of these ARCs and ask for the info. But, NOT ON THE WATCH ITSELF...not even under spoiler black out.

PM back and forth. I don't want it ruined for me. The only spoilers I want are the ones SRD himself wishes to show us either here or on his official site.

Thanks all :D

Furls, it's not good to keep you feelings bottled up inside - you'll get an ulcer. Please let us know how you really feel & don't hold anything back :x !!!

I'm just messing w/you Furls - I agree. If it isnt illegal it should be. We all have been waiting for many years for the story to come along & I don't want it spoiled either.

Well, so far I've only seen one spoiler - and it was just the name of a character. As if that could spoil anything. The other 'spoiler' people complained about was when someone warned people not to look at the last page when they get their own copy, implying that it would spoil the story - which was helpful advice, not a spoiler. Apart from that, the only spoiling is to anyone who responded to those who offered spoilers if they were contacted privately. So far, nothing to get worked up about - just because someone says 'I've got the ARC' it doesn't mean they're threatening to post everything they know about it. Everyone seems to be keeping quiet - because they know you don't want spoilers.

Anyone who would POST an unsolicited spoiler of any kind should be kicked off the watch.

That was my impression, Murrin. I think the bigger deal we make out of this, the more likely it is that someone will post one just for spite. People reading the arcs know, by the very nature of the arc, that most other people haven't read it. So if they're going to put out a spoiler, chances are they'll do it no matter what you do (basically looking at the cruel and unobservant types).

No, it will be a bigger problem when the book hits the shelves and some people read it before others. I don't know about others, but I only plan on reading about a chapter a week (unlimited rereads up to the end of that week's chapter) in order to stretch it out as long as possible. If I start seeing spoilers or just can't restrain myself, though, that might not last.

And really, buying an arc is like peeking at your Christmas presents that are hidden in your mom's closet. Not right, but not exactly immoral. Most people that want the arc are just fans who will still more than likely buy the book in hardcover.

Well, I haven't got the ARC, but using my Authorial Spider Sense™, in the 3.53 seconds when I had The Anonymous Donor's copy in my hands at Elohimfest, of course I uploaded the entire contents to my brain. I will now proceed to offer spoilers, and you can't stop me, nyah hah hah!

MAJOR EVIL HORRIBLE FATAL SPOILERS:

There are some runes or something, possibly at some location on the Earth. Hence the name, 'The Runes of the Earth'.

When ******* arrives in the *******, he (or she) (or possibly it) immediately ******* the *******, incurring the wrath of *******.

******* is actually a *******.

The Poodle of Ra from the Whelan cover does not appear, at least until the scene where ******* ******* ******* and ******* the *******.

Linden Avery is a card-carrying member of the *******.

The word Despiser occurs in the text. So do the words roynish, telic, and tenebrous, though not as often. The word *******, on the other hand, does not occur, and this is a dead giveaway.

For mysterious reasons known only to the author himself, the word is occurs many many many times. SRD seems to have a mysterious fondness for this word.

All 26 letters of the alphabet occur in various combinations, often combined or interspersed with punctuation marks.

The pages of the book are numbered. Consecutively, yet.

And, oh yes, ******* ******* has a white gold *******. But I didn't tell you that. 8)

You missed out clench. It wouldn't be TC without the opportunity for clench racing.

I actually came into this topic expecting a discussion of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (in which I hope to be competing in the near future), but while I'm here I'll take the time to say that spoilers suck. I've been pretty much avoiding any topic that might have RotE spoilers in it, ever since I found out that some members had advanced copies, just in case.
