Chronicles/SRD in a nutshell

The "favorite chapter of first chronicles" thread inspired this idea: apply a single word that most accurately describes each book of the Chronicles.

Creating one-word descriptions is supposed to be a good mental exercise for screenwriters who do adaptations because it forces them to focus on the heart of a story so they can more easily tell what is absolutely essential to keep in a screenplay and what is not.

But we're not making a movie here; I'm just taking the idea and playing with it.

My word choices:

Lord Foul's Bane: HOPE
The Illearth War: BETRAYAL
The Power That Preserves: REDEMPTION

The Wounded Land: PERVERSION
The One Tree: ILLUSION
White Gold Wielder: RENEWAL

It's your turn. How would YOU describe each book in a SINGLE word?

What about Mordant's Need? The Gap series? How would you sum up those books in single words?

Wow~! Those words sound like good descriptors to me~! 8)

BTW, I hope you read my comment regarding choosing a favorite chapter in the series and how I look at the entire 2 chronicles as my favorite altogether~! :D

Hmm, this is a good topic to think about. When I started, I realized I could not pick just one word because every story seems to have an overlying NEGATIVE theme that would crop up throughout the story, becoming worse and worse. However, in the end a POSITIVE theme would always make a surprise appearance to counteract the evil ones.

LFB - Fear/Redemption

TIW - Destruction/Hope

TPTP - Hate/Joy

TWL - Corruption/Courage

TOT - Manipulation/Love

WGW - Despair/Self-Sacrifice

It's been too long since I read Mordant's Need and I don't think I could possibly tag one or two words to an entire book of The Gap.

Interesting thoughts. I wonder if some books can be looked at as having a more evil/desparate vibe to them than other books where there is more victory over all Foul's works... Cool to give the evil and good parts different descriptions that more match the evil and good going on in each particular book~! :)
