This is the second time I have made this thread, so hopefully it'll stay this time. :cross:
Anyway, I loved this book. It's the first Stephen King book I have read. My favourite character was Brutal. He was so nice. But, I have a question. Brutal says:
"Oh my suds and body, a history lesson."
LOL. I have never heard the phrase "oh my suds and body before. What exactly does it mean?
Anyway, did you guys like it?

Sounds like another of those Stephen Kingisms that are unintelligible to anyone who isn't Stephen King

The book was spectacular, and one of those rare gems of a book to movie adaptation that was very well done. Like most movies, the books have more magic to them, as there is more left to our imagination, but both were well done. I have all of my books in little mini booklets as that was how it was originally released, stupid me, realized later that it was also released as a massive one volume set, but ah well, cheers.

Yeah, the movie was really good. It was very sad.

Suds and body sounds like it might be a reference to beer, but I've never heard that phrase before, so I am not sure...

Someone gave me The Green Mile a little while ago, six tiny books. I read them over the last couple of days, and thought it to be a good read.

I like how both the prisoners (except for one complete psycho) and the guards (except for one complete psycho) were all treated with a lot of dignity and humanity.

I don't think I can ever bring myself to watch the movie though...
Spoiler
I don't think I could ever bear to watch a complete innocent die in the electric chair. :( I know, Foul, my heart is too soft. :|

I began reading The Green Mile when it was first released but for some reason I missed one of the volumes and never really finished it. :(

I saw the movie that and I agree with you Haruchai.... very good and very sad. That particular scene you mentioned Duchess made me cry my heart out. Such a beautiful soul

I did a search for the phrase suds and body and I managed to find a reference to suds as being something to do with either money or beer.

...but unfortunately no reference to suds and body.

Absolutely love this story and the movie as well - thought Hanks deserved an Oscar.

Hanks was not even nominated, but Michael Jeter was spectacular as supporting actor, and the movie itself was absolutely robbed, IMHO, losing out to American Beauty. :x
