No....it's not what you might be thinking
I finally got round to seeing the movie and was hugely imressed that the entire movie was CGI !!
It made me think that maybe TCTC could be done using CGI....?

Since the Chronicles are more about the persons and what's happening
inside them rather than visual aspects, I wouldn't like the idea. I can't believe a CGI 'actor' would be able to relate the inner struggles of Covenant, Linden, and so on...
Also, the landscape itself doesn't need to be CGI, too, one could surely find real places which would make a believable Andelain, for example. Ok, Revelstone and Coercri would have to be done artifically...
What would need computer aid are some of the creatures. Sandgorgons, Ur-Viles, those ice critters in WGW... I don't even want to think about an actor in a Nom costume.
Oh, and wild magic pyrotechnics would need some CGI aid.

So you saw the FF Movie? Cool. I'm a huge fan of the video game series, and I enjoyed the movie. Although it was a bit untrue to the series... But still, the graphics were cool. I think the only limit to a Thomas Covenant CGI movie right now is simply the cost. Making the FF Movie cost a HUGE amount of money, and Squaresoft didn't even make all of it back. They lost a lot of money. So unless it becomes cheaper to make CGI that nice in the future, Thomas Covenant will probably have to wait.-jay

My (old) roomate's sister did the animation for the female marine (forgot her name - the voice was Roz from Frasier). So give a friendly wave when you see Alice Kaiserian's name roll by in the credits.

you're kidding the voice was Ros from Fraser??? I would never have guessed that!
I loved FF too .. very impressive!! many say this is the way of the future and ultimately will replace acting .. yeah this technology is expensive but it wont always be ..
and CGI is perfect to make a TCTC .. imagine how perfect the Giants etc will be CG .. definately the way to go!!

i'm a firm believer (ha) that The Chrons couldn't be done justice by anything less than full surround, 3d, tactile enhanced smellovision... or barring that, a synasthesia inducing direct neural interface.
that being said, i'd love to see it in CGI.

I remember when the movie "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" came out, they thought the same. I still prefer my actors/actressess in the flesh but with some of the latest animation gizmos, it's actually quite incredible what can be achieved.

I had a look at those credits and that was one HUGE team working on the movie.

Personally, me think seeing a CG Sandgorgon would be good.
