Global Warming Bad News for Europe

Article

Changing climate in europe could present very large problems if europe does not prepare to adapt to new conditions. According to monitering of climate change since the industrial revolution, it is now believed that europe's winters will be gone by 2080, if global warming is not slowed. Flooding of lowland countries is also expected, as well as the melting of most alpine glaciers. Europeans will also have to adapt to new extreme weather conditions.

---------------------------

No matter the measures taken, this is inevitable. We could conceivably push it back 100, maybe even 200 years at most by reducing emissions and slowing the process, but global warming will still continue - if the heat doesn't ruin the environment, the storms will; and considering the weather the more humid areas of the world are already getting, these new storms will be big. Our future is in closed, controlled environments on earth, or off-world (though I don't personally think the moon is a real option).

Hmmm, what do I care? I'll be dead by then! :P

but yeah... I guess we'll just have to do what we can to stop it (I don't think there's much) and take what we're given.

Good point Hier. I couldn't care less ;) I can only laugh at the people who have the misfortune to live in that time, and hope they suffer intense and horrible deaths.

:P

Darth, those people will be your children if you ever have any.

Darth, you'll still be alive for a good part of it, just not the point where it becomes two hot for normal winters...

From what I have read the whole global warming issue is not correct. However, I have mu doubts.
Darth - could you be serious or respectful for once?

No matter how little of the supposed details are believed, the fact always remains that the average temperature on earth has been rising faster in the last 200-300 years than it has before.

They think it has more to do with volcanic activity than greenhouse emissions. I'm beginning to take this view, as major greenhouse emissions have only really started in the 20th century, so how can it be occurring for 200 years or so?

You know, there´s actually evidence that it might get colder rather than warmer.

Don't believe the misinformation the polluters out out there folks. They pay for studies that begin with an end in mind....to confuse the public.

Hypothesis born of empeircal data and proven in sound data modeled experiments reveal that the planet is in danger. Scientists from reputable non-industry sponsored labs all across the world...NOAA, UN, etc., agree. Consortium of scientists, including 50 or so nobel winners have agreed that global warming IS REAL and is exacerbated by fuel and factory emmissions, which have grown in the industrial age. The argument is OVER.

Detractors and those who profit by the industries either directly or indirectly try to confuse the issue by placing "studies" in the public lexicon that show that either warming is not a real phenom, or that cooling is the issue. Ironically, their dogma seems to be in a data/metaphorical sense that "the soultion to pollution (the facts) is dilution (misinformation)".

Hmmm. Yet we have over 10,000 scientists sign a form saying otherwise and famous scientists like David Bellomy argue against global warming.

Bellamy's point, though the headlines and abstracts suggest otherwise, is that green house gases are not the ONLY cause, but part of the holistic, systemic issue. However, emissions are the element that WE CAN CONTROL. Why exacerbate the problem so that fatkats and their paid-for scientists can make big bucks at the expense of ua all?

Hmmm. Thanks for that clarification, GS. I say let's wait for the hard evidence to reveal itself. I'm all for nature, and hate environmental damage, but not everyone agrees CO2 emissions are as bad as people think.

Well...I'll cast my lot w/ the nobel scientists.

Hey! Nice Logan's Run avatar, btw! You know that a remake is in the works, right?

Yep, I do. AND they are staying true to the novel/original script.

At the risk of hijacking this thread....any cast info?
