Yes, I wonder what is it with George and Jar-Jar?
Sigh...when I first fell in love with the Star Wars universe all those years ago, I never bargained for the fact that one day it would come to be populated by the likes of Ewoks and Jar-Jar's. Looks like we can't escape from them.

Jar-Jar is single-handedly reponsible for my inability to appreciate the new battery of films.

I always thought it would be HIGHLY appropriate if Anikin's first action on the path of the Dark side would be to kill Jar-jar. Then he could go and find Jake Loyd and murder him.
Usually I deny the existance of said trilogy these days. Especially after watching the good ones on DVD last weekend. God, can Lucas make everything good about Star Wars suck?

Lucas is highly skilled at making a cock up of good things.

You lot do nothing but complain.
Have you ever created a star wars trilogy? No! So you shouldn't criticise Lucas.

Nathan -
I love the Star Wars movies as much as anyone. I even like Episodes I and II. I don't see the problems with dialogue and plot that other people complain about.
Lucas is a genius, in my humble opinion.
I just don't like Jar Jar and the Ewoks - but I still love the movies.

I would have been okay with Jar Jar's demise. A bloody event filled with hacking strokes of a light saber wielded with an undying passion for the most gruesome end to a Star Wars character ever. Alas I find this is not to be the case. I'm disappointed but life goes on. (Except Jar Jar's his needs to end.) I have my original trilogy dvd set and having watched the documentary I'm absolutely shocked at the quality of A New Hope. Given the problems they were facing it is a miracle that the film was finished let alone that it is regarded as a masterstroke. George Lucas has my undying respect and Jar Jar Binks hasn't put a dent in my appreciation of Star Wars in any way. (However Jar Jar just needs to die. I’d rather become a meal for hungry Ewoks than suffer another second of Jar Jar’s nearly incomprehensible blathering.) George Lucas Rules!!! Nuff said.

Well said, both of you. I agree wholeheartedly.

Well I note that the poll question has so far received one yes. While I'm not surprised that "no" holds the majority, I'm quite stunned that someone said yes. It's not even an indifferent "meh", it's "yes, I think Jar Jar should continue to be present in these films"

Ah! We had to throw in something for the kiddies though didn't we? Gotta get mom and dad to spend money on all the tie in merchandising don't we?
The Ewoks I was able to forgive. Jar-Jar on the other hand, nope. No way, no how.

heh, most of my complaining are feeble attempts at humour... the first series will always be genius in my book.. Jar Jar or no... and the latest series isn't all that bad either.

I'm not that fussy about Episode IV... V and VI are great, I is dull but tolerable, II is better but appallingly acted.

Ewoks I can forgive because everything else in Jedi is so friggin awesome. Puppet Jabba, a monster that eats people like corn-dogs, like 13 exploding star destroyers, and a guy that shoots lightning from his fingertips.
It goes far deeper than the surface. The original trilogy had that epic, operatic drama going for it. The best thing about Jedi IMHO? All the scenes between Luke, Vader, and the Emperor. It is just such high drama, I wanted to cry watching it for the first time in years last weekend.
Even things like dialogue and writing are much shoddier than the first. Compare the Anakin- Amidala love story to Han and Leia. You can't! It seems like Lucas is just watering down and recycling his old gimmicks. Try listening to (new CG!) Yoda without cringing.
Lucas said it himself, he has become the corporation he was rebelling against to make A New Hope. It's really sad.
