I thought I'd post a thread here to gather all together who will be attending WFC this year.

www.worldfantasy.org

I'm getting into town that Thursday morning, and will be staying at the con's hotel. Real name is John Eccker, so you can get ahold of me at the hotel.

Steve has a reading that night (7pm?) that I plan to attend. He told me that they're not sure which location it will be at - I think he has one place noted on the Book Tour page of the official site, but they may want him to go to a newer store. Call the store that morning to find out which one it is.

Friday night (typically 8 - 10) is the mass autograph session at the con. TONS of great authors - you'd be amazed. The one year (Monterey, CA)Michael Moorcock attended the con. Very interesting hearing him speak on the panels. Check out the attendee list on the con's web site - you won't be disappointed.

That Thursday night SRD is doing a reading? Tell me where. Of course, I have school that night. I might not be able to go.

Also, I don't see any link to an agenda for the weekend.

Thought I'd post some quick feedback about the start of WFC. I went to SRD's appearance at the Poisoned Pen - they actually had about a dozen of the authors (and a couple editors) from the conference there, and each spent fifteen or twenty minutes speaking. Steve didn't provide any new info - he explained why he's waited twenty years to finish the Chronicles (and the amusing story of how Lester delRey got him hooked into doing them to begin with).

MYTHBUSTERS!!!!
---------------------
I did get to talk a bit with Howard Morhaim (Steve's agent). He (jokingly) asked me if I could stomp out the myth that the character Mhoram is based on (or even named after) him. It's just a huge coincidence - he and Steve didn't even meet until around book five. Then I reminded him that Mhoram is one of the few characters in all of Steve's stories that isn't filled to the brim with self loathing, and is a true hero from beginning to end. He conceded that perhaps it's not a bad character to be associated with (but I'm posting this anyway since I think he'd rather have the facts out there).

:-)

Caam - I hope to see you tomorrow (Friday)! The first panel is at 10am, but you should try to get here a little early to sign in. I'll probably be hanging out in the lobby area by then, and if not please feel free to call my cell phone.

Mark - looking forward to seeing you on Saturday!

Saturday night our writing group is having its (second) annual party, starting at 7pm. Not sure what room we're getting yet - I'll know more on Saturday morning.

Anyone else coming?

That's a damn big coincidence, wouldn't you say?

I would have sworn it was Mr Donaldson himself who began that rumour... :?

You know, I vaguely remember that as well.

I remember the same thing! I think it was in one of the interviews (Sep 97?) that he mentioned it.

Argh! Howard Morhaim is messing with our minds! He must be the inspiration for Lord Foul too!
