I'm a slow reader. I'll finish the book before Monday, but only by reading for something like 10 hours each day. So I'm only on page 59 at the moment. And I'm posting now, instead of reading, because I'm shaking and had to put it down. It's so intense I'm losing my mind! My god seeing Linden again is incredible!!! I really didn't like her at first. But Pitchwife's love for her forced me to rethink. Then there's this line from the very end of WGW:
For the last time, she lifted her voice toward him, spoke to him as if she were a woman of the Land:
"Farewell, beloved."
And the events so far in these 59 pages!!! I'm serious about shaking. Typing this is not easy.
Anyway, I just needed a break to catch my breath and gather my strength.

You're not the only slower reader here. It took me two weeks to read Runes, and I was hurrying. Glad you're enjoying it

Fortunately for me, I'm a fast reader. I started at around 8:30am and finished it about 4pm. I'll probably read it again to savor it more, but I loved it.
This is the first Covenant book I'll have to wait for the sequel for though! I don't know how I'll last 3 years!

I KNOW!!!! 3 #@$%^&% YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Part of the reason it's going to be so hard to wait is the Watch. When the 2nd Chrons was coming out, I didn't have all of you. For me, we turn the anticipation into a feeding frenzy!!
And dAN, I haven't read about that promise you made before now. I gotta go along with Darth on this one. Nothing under the Arch of Time could get such a promise from me! Did your ultimate fantasy-girl say, "I'll (*your favorite naughty thing*) every moment you're NOT reading Runes."???

Isn't all of this JUST FANTASTIC!!!
Just lie back and think about it
We are actually posting about a NEW Covenant book. I know we all know that, and yes I am a little over excited.
It took me a little over three weeks to read it in the end - and I wasted at least half of that because I couldn't quite bring myself to start.
Its just awesome.
Really, truly awesome.
Enjoy everyone

I'll say this:
The Last Eight Lines of the book will be talked about far more than the rest.

Oh, not fair, Darth! I've been going along kind of leisurely-like, enjoying being back in the Land -- and now I'm going to want to race ahead and get to the end!
Oh, well. I guess once I get there, I can go back and read it again....

I bought my copy late yesterday afternoon - Im about halfway through at this point. Im taking a bit of a break so my wife can start reading it, because Im generous like that.
Anyway, no spoilers, but... there are a couple of things about this series that are surprising me... Im going to be rather curious to see where this story leads...

Rats!!! I should have deleted Darth when I had the chance!

What is wrong with him? Couldn't keep it in his pants, er, I mean the Runes forum?
Anyway:
I just got back from Barnes and Noble (where SRD will read, Q&A and sign tomorrow), I beat the rush and puchased the 1st copy fresh out of the box! Then 3 people bought right after me. Yes, I held the ARC in my hands at Elohimfest-but I never peeked. This seems like a freakin' religious experience!!! It's SOOO different having your own copy in your hot little hands. (This is the first hardbound SRD I've ever purchased, btw...) I'm such a fanatic that I feel I've just lifted a blessed copy of the Bible off the ARC of the (Thomas) Covenant!!! HAHAHA

Now I'm sick--I'm beyond hope: delaying it's opening is like prolonging an orgasm...this is WAY too cool!! I can't believe it's finally here! Cracking Runes open is akin, to me, as what the Warrior Poets in Neverness define as
the moment of the possible! Oh waiting a little longer will be so sweet yet so infernally frustrating!
Anyway:
I got into a long conversation with 4 people at the bookstore about the Official SRD site, Kevin's Watch, The Final Chrons, George R. R. Martin, Stephen Erikson, Neverness, The Gap Saga and Ahira's Hangar. So if some new NM members show up soon-don't be surprised. We'll all be at the reading tomorrow!
I CAN'T WAIT TO READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Danlo, I'm just a little bit confused - would you mind elaborating on your excitement just a bit more?

That's a great analogy.
