Will Liand and Linden get together?

What do you think? I'm sure we all saw signs of a romance between them in Runes... Although it was native who had to point it out to me.
I really was sickened when Linden was going "Just... hold me Liand." Bitch.
It's so obvious that Liand has the hots for her... I was just thining "Touch her... and I'll fry you alive".
Now... I'm going to explain why I'm so against this...
I've always liked the Second Chronicles much more than the first... The thing that puts them ahead for me is the love story between Thomas and Linden. It was just so beautiful... the mutual love between struck my heart poignantly... It's was amazing when they first got together... read my dissection on that chapter... and you'll see...
I've always been a sucker for a good love story... and this one was amazing, I sometimes go back and read the parts where they express their love for each most, like in the Sandhold, their talk on the Gaint Ship... Revelstone...
And to see all that torn apart by this little wuss who's following Linden around because he doesn't have anything better to do would destroy the Chronicles for me... I can't stand that love being threatened... Honestly, it would break my heart. And I won't be able to read the books anymore if it does happen.

Who else is she gonna hook up with, if not Liand? Covenant is dead, Stave has this thing for icy Haruchai chicks...that pretty much leaves on Liand.

Yes, I have. Did you read the part where Covenant says "Remember I'm dead."

Come on dlb! Do you really think that Stephen can afford to go through another book
without him?! This is the Chronicles of
Thomas Covenant! Stephen Donaldson
has to bring him back at some point.

I've been thinking about Covenant's return for several days now - and I'm just not willing to bet the farm that what we say at the end of Runes was really Covenant.
We'll just have to wait a couple of years to find out, won't we?

What, do you really think that Linden is going to say:
"Oops! That isn't him after all! How very silly of me!"

Stop and think about the Dead for just a minute. In 2nd Chronicles the Dead existed only in Andelain. Sunder and Hollian said, after the Law of Life was broken, that if they left Andelain they would not last very long. (Obviously, holding the new Staff of Law must have changed that, as Runes tells us that they did live in Mithil Stonedown.) So how could this be Covenant, back from the Dead?
This could be Covenant transported through time - but how? At what point during the 1st and 2nd Chronicles could he have been transported from?
Sorry, dude - I'm just not buying it, not at this point anyways.

I think that he wants her, to be sure...but I don't think it's mutual. She's looking for a friend, not a lover, as far as he's concerned.
Could lead to some interesting tension between him and TC in the next book though!

Oh, That would be cool!
I hope Thomas Covenant kicks his ass.

Do you think that the reason why the Dead were limited to Andelain was because of the Earthpower? (or lack of it anywhere else) I mean, is it possible that the Dead in the time of Runes can travel with the people who are responsible for them - Covenant could be one of Jeremiah's dead - and can travel a little bit - his time maybe limited, he may need to talk to Linden.
Just guessing but I'd hate it to be like those 1950's adventure serial programmes, where at the end of one you are convinced that the hero plummeted to his death, only to see him role smartly from the back of the car at the start of the next one. I know it won't be like that but I hope you know whhat I'm saying I mean he's dead, right??

Thankfully, that's not in Thomas's character, although he might stew for a bit and spout one or two "Hellfire's" here and there.
Regarding the ending, and him being dead: remember that the title for the next book is "Fatal Revenant". Revenant is one of those favored archaic or semi-archaic words of Donaldson's, and it means "a person who has returned, especially from the dead". The OED makes it plain that this is not a living person, as it says, "One who returns from the dead; a ghost". We all know SRD's love of the OED.
Anyway, I digress, although slightly. To address your initial question, there's no question that Liand has a thing for her, even though he is half her age (making him not that much older than Jeremiah). There's also no question that Linden, at this point, sees him only as a friend. She is still deeply in love with Thomas Covenant. Given the fact that so many laws have been broken, that certain Elohim are rogue, there's a slight possibility that we might see TC raised from the dead, although I doubt it. If he is, then of course he and Linden resume their love. If not - well, Liand and Linden will be going through many of the same ordeals that sealed Thomas and Linden's love during the course of the next three books (nine years!). Anything can happen.

erm... we're missing the point of the thread.
Prince, tell the good people of Kevinswatch what you think of Linden and Liand getting together.

I'd hate it. I don't think it will happen because we all know how much she loves TC. This is the Land in which they became lovers, she would not betray that. It's not in her character.

Again, I don't think Linden ever loved Covenant, but I went inot that in another topic, and at least one other before that. I don't think Linden will get together with Liand, because her feelings seem to be platonic at best, and at times almost maternal.

I'm all for a Linden and Liand relationship! I see it now: a love triangle with Liand and Covenant fighting for Linden's love

I'm at least interested in seeing how the whole thing plays out.

Maybe I'm just being cynical but Liand just seems a little too nice. I'm reminded of how Foul sat at Kevin's right hand for years before Kevin realized what was going on.

Oh it's Covenant alright. You can be sure of that. Unhelpful dead oozing corruption Covenant wanting his ring back, probably, but not much change from how he usually is in that case.
And let's not forget that his wife and son are abroad, causing havoc. He'll be drawn back by his inflexible loyalty to his past, she'll be drawn forward by her need to escape her self and her mistakes. She has health sense and he is a corpse. Everything will be pulling them apart.
Linden and Liand will surely happen.
