The Dark Tower is pretty famous in ridiculously-long-drawn-out-fantasy circles 
Our very own A Gunslinger and Roland of Gilead are named after the Tower. It's by Stephen King, and it's worth a look, though I haven't made up mind yet as to whether I like it.Posted: Wed Oct 27, 2004 9:09 pm

Anyhow I'd write a book like Gormenghast... I've never heard of it.
