The Giants Return?

I do not know if this subject has been broached yet, but does anyone have any thoughts as to when the giants may become involved again? and as to what capacity they might be used in. I can't help feeling that SD intends to leave them out for another book.
I suppose this stems from the Haruchai telling linden that they are not scheduled to return to the land for a number of years yet, but i really want to see them as soon as possible because they are definitely my favourite race. I would also love to see a lot more of them together at once, like hundreds maybe.
Well, anybody else...................?

They
have to come back. If they don't - no matter how amazing and wonderful the other books will be - I'll be sad.

well..

Yes i definitely think we'll be seeing them, but it's "when" thats worrying me. Not to be pessimistic or anything but i do feel the first book lacked a little in something, whether it was a lack of action or authenticity i don't know. But i feel the intro' of our sea-loving friends may just bring that bit of added steel.
I seem to have lost a lot of faith in the Haruchai and the Ramen after their "antics" in Runes, so i'm looking forward to having that faith restored when the smiling-ones come back.

Well, if the past events in the Land are any indication, Revelstone seems to be a starting point from which adventures out of the Land start.
So perhaps Linden will decide that she needs to leave the Land in order to try to help it. Seareach would seem to be the logical destination for one attempting to leave the Land in the east, so that Lifeswallower and the Lurker could be visited once again. And maybe, just maybe, a Giant archaeological (sp?) expedition will be at Coercri.
That would give Linden access to a dromond which could begin her global adventures.
That is, if she even leaves the Land. But I can't see 3 more books taking place only in Revelstone, Mount Thunder and Andelain.
Or maybe we'll finally see what is on the other side of the Westron Mountains.

The New Giants

...The re-intro of the Giants could very well be painful. Be careful what you wish for. Yes, I expect that they will be in the FC somewhere.Something seems to indicate in the last 3rd of the series. They would be a good bridge between books, possibly 3 and 4. Just remember, they have been more or less asked to stay the h*ll out of the Land by the wonderful Masters.
So, the Giants of yore, full of compassion, aammm,,i don't expect to be present upon first surfacing. Again, Linden will be tasked to " heal" the hurts. I don't expect a Giantish All time Great story , the likes of Thelma Two Fist,to be told until Linden gets them on board. But I know one is in SRD to tell. That I really anticipate the hearing.......MEL

Just as the Ramen came earlier to the Verge of Wandering, the Giants may also seek out the land earlier as well. They won't be expected so the Masters won't stop them...

Mel: You really have cut out the idiosynchrosies a bit! I find I enjoy reading your posts!
I would assume that the giants have been warned by the Elohim to beware the Halfhand, like everyone else on the planet, possibly? They might return for that reason? They would have the ability to decipher the message much better, in terms of understanding the reference to Kastenessen

Nice point about the Giants being warned about the Halfhand.
Although, they hold true to their stories-and they are stubborn as old Goats. Once Pithcwive and Pitchhusband returnd Home, and told their tale (which probebly took months)-Their entier race would probebly now hold an eternal grudge against the elohim, and hold the Giantfreind, and Earthfriend in the highest regard.

The way SRD likes to change stuff up on us, and corrupt all the stuff we really like, we might see the Giants in a position AGAINST Linden. That'd be disconcerting! Especially since I don't exactly respect Linden's quest in the first place...

Oh Jem, you're not one of those LInden haters are you?

Nope. I like Linden a lot. And I notice that she constantly doubts her own purpose there ,and how she keeps running the ends justifies the means arguments in her head. Pretty weak of her, but then, it is her son and all.

The metaphorical offspring of the Council of Lords (in the form of the Clave) was opposed to TC in the second chrons, and the Haruchai are opposed to Linden in Runes. I think if SRD is planning to shock us when it comes to the Giants, it'll be something different. How about a despair-sodden society of depraved, self-serving Giants? Possibly they routinely trade their souls to croyel upon "coming of age" or similar? Or perhaps, having been completely outmatched by wild magic and so forth in the second chrons, they now seek white gold for themselves?

Following in CovJrs vein of predictions, perhaps they now worship Covenant and Linden?
(unlikely, I know)
