I mean, he got hit with a bullet, and he was in the bowl.....and we just know he's overdue for a showdown with Covenant, Joan, Linden and all the other people he's angered.

No, he's not.

From Chapter 1, "I am Content":
Barton Lytton had probably survived. And Sandy Eastwall might live still. Prostrate, they had sprawled below the wild gunfire. They had no part in this.

I do not think he is there, as per the quote...but it would be emotionally satisfying for me if I could read about him getting a good butt kicking... :)

Or to be tossed back and forth with bolts of wild magic from both rings. :)

Or to get a spanking from the new SOL.

Knowing Donaldson, we'll end up liking the bastard by the end of the last book.

Lytton's probably going to be likable, eventually, in a Castellan Lebbick sort of way.

I predict at some point in the story (probably as a cliff hanger, heh) Lytton shows up to save Linden with shot gun in hand. Kind of like Ash in Army of Darkness. Yeah that would be cool. (just kidding):-)
I imagine the sherrif jaming the barrel of his gun into the mouth of an attacking Kresh and saying something quippy like "You wanna eat somethin? Eat this!" Ka Blam. Linden is saved and we suddenly like the bum.

Redneck ? You got something against my shaving rash ?

I can't find my banjo... Cleatus... CLEATUS ! Get my banjo and the shotgun, we're gonna get in the pick up truck and go find Emmylou. She's a purdy little thang, etc, etc...

As I mentioned in the other 'who came to the land' thread, I expect Lytton, if he turns up, to have gone mad, or be on his way towards it, because he is unable to accept the reality/unreality of the Land.

I can just see TC's reaction to Lytton showing up in the Land.....

"Oh, hellfire, there goes the neighborhood!"

heh

Great Question

...Maybe theres another way to see the question...hes in the Land in the form of the Staff of Law.,,not literally but figuratively...What did we have in the hollow? The Law,,a crazyed homocidal maniac with two hostages and Linden.
...So,,not much difference in the Land...except Linden controls the Law now. What will she do differently from what happened in the hollow? What will His Majesty Mal Content place in her path to guide her to the same end in the Land as in the hollow,,,more like a crucible come to think of it,,,Will all her " deputies" do likewise?..We still don't kno if Lytton was wearing a bullet proof vest or not...and of course the bullet that entered Linden may have already passed thru Wacko thus possibly not of enuf energy to be lethal..who knos?

.Lots of questions but i ....imagining Lytton in the Land...naaaa...thats just to damn easy. But something in a figurative sense,,perhaps the Masters or something yet to come..

We here in Maricopa County have our internationally known Sherrif Joe Arpaio..Hes plenty good for entertainment untill SRD settles the question...MEL

That's a good point, lurch, I hadn't thought of that. But then it kinda begs the question, what about Sandy? I remember Linden wondering at one point if Sandy had also come to the Land, and if so, where?

Also, I know this is off topic, but I just had another thought. Linden might well be dying, but remember that at the end of TPTP, TC was also dying, and would have died if not for the Creator's intervention, his "gift". What's to stop him from doing the same for Linden?

Dazed and Confused...

...Geez..that would realy expand the envelope on the " interior landscape"
model..Sandy and Sherrif Lyt stumbling around the Land...wow! does that open up a can of worms end!!
..Sandy falls for Stave ...or Liand? Linden gets to deal with jelousy?
Sherrif Joe, i mean sherrif Bart..( thers something about Barton Lytton,,the name,,one of theses days i'll figure it out,,i just can't believe Donaldson isn't having fun there, with that)...his presense in the Land,,would almost have to be one of comic relief...talk about expanding envelope...naa,,i just can't see his presense in the Land,,he'd spend most of his time cleaning out his pants. I'll stay with The Masters as reps for misguided Law....
,,,Anything is possible,,,but for now,,those two seem unnecessary for the plot or theme...Perhaps there are needed in the real world..MEL

If the principles of summonsing are the same in the Second and Final Chronicles, then:

Step 1: Stand on a large rock.
Joan, Roger, Jeremiah, and Sally all qualify. Lytton is very close, but doesn't quite make it.

Step 2: Get bloody. Use your own blood, or borrow some blood from a friend.
Joan, Roger, Jeremiah, Sally, and Lytton all qualify.

Step 3: Slowly die. Alternately, lose consciousness for a while.
Joan, Roger, Jeremiah, Sally, and Lytton all qualify.

Step 4: You are now free to move about in the Land.

I would have to say that there is a much stronger argument for Sally being summoned to the Land than Lytton. (And there is at least two other clues that Sally is involved.) But it isn't ruled out. We know that blood is necessary; proximity seems necessary as well, but there's no telling where the line is. He may have been close enough.

On the other hand: Linden arrived in the Land alone, whereas TC and Linden arrived together before. Maybe Linden was the only one summoned. Everyone assumes Jeremiah was also summoned, but, despite the last page of Runes, this is an arguable issue. It's very unclear if Joan was, or is, in the Land. And Roger is as complete a mystery as Lytton or Sally.

Unless we (and Linden) are being totally lied to, Joan is definitely in the Land as Linden has had a vision of her somewhere near Land’s Drop where the Raver possessing her is forcing her to attack the Arch with her white gold, thus creating the caesures. The ending of course strongly suggests that Jeremiah is in the Land. Evidence for Roger is a bit less conclusive. And nothing at all to suggest whether anyone was brought along or not.

Yes. The operable word is "visions". Visions don't have to be of something which is true. Nor do they have to be literal.

Remember, the ceasures began long before Linden was summoned. Joan was summoned at the same time. But Joan had been somehow generating these ceasures long before then. So it's arguable that Joan was not "in" the Land before, and she may not be "in" it now. She might have some other kind of relationship with the Land. (It was stated that she is Linden's summoner ... can she silmultaneously be a summonee?)

To my mind Linden's visions seem to be metaphors for what is really going on. The wall seems to be a representation of the Arch; the ocean, chaos. I don't think there's anywhere in the Land where you could stand and see that stuff. It has to be symbolism somehow.

Im kind of hoping it stopped with Joan and Jeremiah. If it is suddenly possible for all these people to come to the land, then any ring will do the trick of destroying the land after Lindens eventual death by Lord Foul, or even old age.
Thats a large can of worms. :)

Well, it would be interesting to see a "Raider of the Lost Ark" type moment where the Sheriff steps in at the point of Linden's defeat by some creature and plugs the creature in the head with his .38..
