I heard a song off his new album on my friend's iPod today and.....it was really frickin good and really frickin cool. If anyone has it, how is it?

I have it, as well. So does one of my friends in real life. We both love it. Shatner's stuff from the 60s (most notably the Transformed Man) is so bad it's unintentionally funny, but Shatner's latest album is the real deal. You'll instantly notice its great qualities, if it's to your tastes.

You're kidding me!!! It's decent??? Better even than his moving rendition of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds????

I downloaded and listened to samples from the website. It's absolutely horrific.

Oh well, it's getting a lot of airplay, and not because people think it's something to laugh at. You're either going to love it or hate it (I loved it), and, if you haven't heard it, I think it's definitely worth a look.

Actually, I was probably just disappointed because it just seemed Shatner's 'singing' wrecked what could have been something brilliant - particularly considering the high calibre of the musicians involved.

Maybe if I thought of it as a post-modern, ironic satirisation of himself I could enjoy it.

Yep, Transformed Man is one of those unintentionally hilarious gems, but Has Been is actually being considered good by a lot of people. And if you think "Tambourine Man" is bad, you must see Shatner's live performance of Elton John's "Rocket Man" to understand true awfulness.

"No Tears for Ceasar" from the movie Free Enterprise... I don't even know where to begin. I still don't know if it was meant to be funny or serious. It's rap. I think. It may contain aspects of good rap. Or not. It scares me.

Edge, for the first album, you are quite correct. But, this new cd is quite good, seriously.

No, he doesn't. He knows himself well enough to know he's no Elton John (and remember, EJ is no WS, either. Imagine Sir Elton trying to run the Enterprise..... ). He is truly unafraid fo what anybody thinks; he just goes out there and experiences what he wants to. He amazes me.
