Piers Anthony's Xanth: A Spell for Chameleon...A movie?

I've said many times that I truly enjoyed the first few Xanth stories. Something about the way the characters interacted and the unusual way Anthony's Xanth struck me, was fresh and entertaining. Of course I became bored with the series after perhaps the 3rd book. The idea that Xanth may become a motion picture is both interesting and terrifying. We'll have to wait and see how they proposed to handle it.

I'm with you Tom, I really liked the first few books. Then (to me at least) they became very repetative and childish.
A movie could be interesting. I wonder if it'd cater to the younger crowd?

In an industry that likes sequels, especially successively worse ones, they couldn't pick a better book.
Though I've never gone back to them, I have to agree with you, Tom. The first few were pretty good. There was even a point, around book 13 or so, that it seemed like he was going to try making it a readable series again. As it is, I had to quit reading Xanth when I could no longer stand the shame I felt when the librarian looked at the title.

Heh heh heh.....
God...I hope Xanth doesn't make it into movie format. The early books are still pretty good (at least until you get into the double digits) but a movie would be an abysmal disaster. How do you translate half the puns into a movie, for one?
I do recall thinking Crewel Lye would almost be doable if they were reasonably faithful to the story and they had a massive budget for the CGI monsters and other special effects like the evil sword.
