Sometimes I think musicals have the most moving songs ever.

My school's putting on the play "Jesus Christ Superstar" and I've got a CD of all the songs to listen to so I'll know them when I have to sing them and there's a particular song "Heaven on their minds" that I found I really liked. It's a great musical too, if you ever get the chance you should go and see it.

I can't think of any musicals I really liked, and few I could tolerate.

OK then, that'd be No for Syl.

I'm a pretty decent fan of musicals. I don't really know JCS, but Godspell is a lot of fun. "Day by Day" and "It's All for the Best" are particularly good.

Most of the music in West Side Story is excellent. My favorite musical.

A few other favorites are Brigadoon (even if it's just a musical, without Gene Kelly. He and Fred Astaire are gods.), Camelot, Les Mis, and Aspects of Love. I'd love to see more, but I don't even rent movies all that often, much less actually go to Broadway.

Annie Get Your Gun was surprisingly good. But I was so thrilled when I read the playbill beforehand, and saw that F Troop's Cpl. Agarn was in it, that I'd have enjoyed anything!

I'm a huge fan of some musicals, particularly Les Mis and Phantom of the Opera (check out my thread on the new movie in Flicks!)

I also liked Joseph, Funny Girl, Evita, the Sound of Music, etc, but could not tolerate South Pacific.

as far as plays go, i dont really go for plays much...I saw Phantom of the Opera and it was really good, had a great time...and ive seen A Christmas Carol on stage before..it was really good...but for the most part, plays dont really interest me...

as far as movies go, theres a few i like...the Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz, Holiday Inn....for some reason thats all i can think of at the moment...

saw Damn Yankees with Tony Randall, it was excellent.

I, generally, can't stand musicals but the fact that y'all have left out My Fair Lady is atrocious!

Tsk, tsk! JCS, Sound of Music, West Side Story and Brando's wonderfully horrid singing in Guys and Dolls are very good too. I'm also partial to Top Hat, On the Town and another little known classic called Singing in the Rain

I love to go see musicals.

Les Mis, Rent, The Producers, and Phantom of the Opera are all favorites of mine.

But while I love them on stage, I'm usually not as fond of them on film...

One play that I've never been able to see, but that I think has particularly lovely songs is South Pacific:

One of my Must-Hear musicals.
The music is very good and the underlying theme/lyrics to most songs are hilarious.

(got the Original Broadway Cast soundtrack, though the movie version I thought was better)

I sat through a particularly horrible live version of this when I still lived in Memphis, although I will say that it was the actors themselves that made it so bad.
