WOw, again.

I have never read such a big list of authors and books without ever having read any of them before. I have read a lot, lot of books just in case you ask.

For balance, is there a 'man' enist website for man type fantasy/fiction?

p.s this may have been a slightly tongue in cheek post.

Just to be sure the list of authors in their reading list is not exclusively women. The authors list includes Samuel R. Delany, John Kessel, and Ted Sturgeon, and IMO welknown authors such as UK LeGuin and Marion Zimmer Bradely. However, feministsf.org is closely associated with Broad Universe, broaduniverse.org, an online organization actively encouraging women's writing of SF, fantasy and horror. Hoping to clarify the content of feministsf.org

There are some great books in that list. However after reading the why's and wherefores.. I have to disagree with the premise that there was a need because of some void in women/women friendly sci-fi and fantasy.

Over the last 30 some odd years, I have read tons and tons of books where the female of the story is the main character or even the defining character of the book. I have also read alot of female sci-fi authors over the years. Heck just look at that list of authors and books, its huge and its probably not complete!

However, thanks for a great list of books with reviews to choose from.

OK, in May 2005 I made the trip to Madison, Wisconsin and attended WisCon www.sf3.org/wiscon The following regards one of the panels during the convention.

However, I have some additional notes regarding WisCon as follows: One panel, BTW I did not attend this panel, The canon that dare not speak its name - a discussion of a feminist SF&F literary canon. Some of the panel's discussion concerned the appropriateness of establishing a feminist canon, canon presumes hierarchy and exclusion, in the minds of many feminist ideals are non-hierachcal and inclusionary. Regardless, the panel still came up with a list of feminist SF&F titles that are recommended and important:
