Epitath (a poem)

I just submitted this one to the anthology.
**************
Epitath
Death,
I welcome thee.
Take me in thy cold,
yet loving embrace.
My mortal feet leave my soul
trapped on this earth
as others fly above,
or sink below.
Life,
I despise thee.
Release me from thy cold
and spiteful grasp.
You confine my soul
here on earth.
I must break free,
and go with those
who reach heights
(and depths)
that no mortal can.
Death,
I welcome thee.

A day may come when I can actually relate to this. But that day is not yet nigh.

Damn. Better knowing that I can get people to respond to me four plus years later.
What have you been up to?

Wow, four years 9 months and 2 days later apparently, but who's counting? Crazy. So often I have thought about and think about getting on the Watch but, ugh...life happens.
So very glad to see you still around and so many other names that I remember (looking at you Fist and Faith!) Maybe I should change my name to Waywardfriend. The classic Watch before social media took hold was truly some great times and spent many hours last week just reading through many posts both old and new.
It was truly a bit heart warming when I saw your message tagged on this post, and I thank you sincerely. Glad to know that I have been remembered!
Quick recap. Moved from New Orleans to Indianapolis eight years ago at the end of this month. Still here and still hate winter. Still not a Hoosier. My oldest now a sophomore at Purdue. My youngest just finishing his sophomore year in high school. Both my boys have picked up multiple instruments and have surpassed long ago whatever previous skill levels that I may have had, they have truly surpassed the teacher. And both playing metal old and new and loud. Cannot be prouder!
Still loving heavy metal, horsepower, my Saints and reading whenever I can.
So that is it for now. I have made a point to try and get on again regularly. I may have never been the most active poster but usually would pick my spots here and there. I think that there may yet some more spots ripe for the picking it appears!

Didn't know you were from New Orleans. Were you born there? For reasons I have yet to discover, my father is a DNA match with practically every Acadian descendant. If you have ancestors named Landry, LeBlanc, Lavergne, Arsenault, Guidry, Trahan, Stelly, Hebert, or any of a dozen other surnames of this sort, we're probably not terribly distant cousins. No idea why, though.
I was telling a Guidry DNA match from LA that, being a New Yorker, I can't help but love the name Guidry. He had no idea why. What about you?

From New Orleans but of Italian and German descent. Both of my great grandparents immigrated to the US from Italy and Germany respectively. But have known and still know so many by the names that you have listed.
Born in New Orleans, raised in the parish next door about 8 miles away in Metairie LA. Took an opportunity to move to Indy in May 2013.
NOLA will always be home and will get back some day. The kids though are now developing their own roots. No telling still what the future may hold for us. The company that I work for is based right outside of New Orleans. Have been with them for nearly 14 years now. They understand and acknowledge our intent to get back home again, but no timeline has ever been set.
We get home at a minimum twice per year, that is where all of the family is.

I've never been there. Would love to. Never heard anybody who was there say anything but great things about it.

Everytime we decide to hit New Orleans something comes up.
